White Chocolate Moments by Lori WickI finished another book last night, in rather record time, even for me. I had some time to read in the car going to and from my dad’s house on Saturday, and then some Sunday night. Tim watched “Hoot” on HBO and I decided to skip it and read. Anyway, I finished this one pretty quick and did enjoy it. It is a book I picked up a month or so ago by Christian author Lori Wick, entitled “White Chocolate Moments”. I like reading a lot of Christian fiction because it’s clean, usually pretty predictable, and mostly, because it keeps my mind and heart on the right things. I had not read the greatest things about this book, so my expectations were not high. However, I did enjoy this book. In fact, I’d compare it to “Sophie’s Heart” and “The Princess”, two similar books by Lori Wick. If you liked those books, you would like this one.

I was a little surprised in this book, in that Wick didn’t immediately introduce characters that are already Christians. In this book, I was nearly half way into it before she mentioned God or religion, which is a bit of a change of pace from the other books I’ve read by Lori Wick. This book follows beautiful young Arcineh Bryant on her life, loves and relationships with family and friends for nearly 12 years. I like novels that allow characters to grow, and find their faith, and see where life leads this. This was a great example of that kind of plot that I enjoy.

Anyway, for the record, that makes 28 books read so far this year, with a total of 9,120 pages read. Up next is a library book I picked up over the weekend. I have been experimenting with our online reservation system, and have placed myself on the waiting list for 4 books, all new releases or bestsellers. The first one came available and I ran down to pick it up. It’s the new Shopaholic book by Sophie Kinsella, “Shopaholic & Baby”. I’m looking forward to it. I’ve enjoyed every book by this author, and I do believe I’ve read them all! 🙂

I have Shopaholic & Baby on hold at my library. I love the Shopaholic books. Fun stuff! Have you read Pretense by Lori Wick? That was a bit longer one of hers and was really good.

  3. Gail Said,

I’m glad you liked it! Now I can read it, after I finish the eleventy hundred others I borrowed from you! And Debi (Twiga) mentioned Pretense, so you can read mine when you are ready!

  6. Southern Girl Said,

You’re putting me to shame with all this reading! You’re way ahead of me in number of books read so far this year. I’m starting to think I’m not going to meet my 70 books in ’07 goal. Oh well, I read more than 70 when I was just shooting for 60 last year. 😉

  7. Laura Said,

I love the Kinsella books and I just finished her newest….awesome but I won’t give anything away!!
