Finished “Beach Road”

Beach Road by James PattersonI finished another book last night, “Beach Road” by James Patterson. This was my first Patterson book (except for “Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas” which I read in 2005, but I believe that book was not your typical Patterson book), and I must say, I did enjoy it! I might have found a new author to read 🙂 The chapters were really short, which actually made for pretty quick reading. It was easy to read, a good plot (I didn’t see the ending coming, but that’s just me, I never figure plots out!) and it wasn’t too gruesome. I had heard that some of his works are (maybe some of the Women’s Murder Club books or his Alex Cross books), but this one was not that bad at all. The last Nora Roberts book I read, “Blue Smoke” had more graphic and gruesome depictions than this book. This book covers murder, rape, drug deals, race relations and assorted other topics in a really good little story. I’ll definitely be looking for more Patterson books at my local library in the future.

For the record, that makes 27 books read so far, with a total of 8,761 pages read. Up next is a fairly new Lori Wick book I bought earlier this year, “White Chocolate Moments”. I haven’t read the best reviews on it, so my hopes aren’t up too high, but I’m still hoping it is enjoyable, light and even predictable. After that, I will probably forge ahead with the next Stephanie Plum book (Ten Big Ones) or else one of the three library books I am on the waiting list for. If any of them ever come available 🙂

  1. deb Said,

My youngest daughter gave me a Nora Roberts paperback last weekend called “Sanctuary”. I’ve never read any of Nora Roberts’ books but this one looks like it might be pretty good judging from what I read on the back cover 🙂

Hope you have a great weekend, Stacy!

  2. twiga92 Said,

I like Patterson’s books – they are quick reads. The women’s Murder Club ones are a bit gruesome. I just finished book 26 today – we’re both making excellent progress in our reading this year! 🙂

  3. Susie Said,

So glad you enjoyed the ‘new to you’ author! I forgot that I also like his books because of the short chapters. I wouldn’t mind if all books had short chapters; somehow it makes it easier to read.

  4. Susanne Said,

I cannot believe how much you can read. You and Shalee (Shalee’s Diner) both. Amazing! I’ve never read any of his books.

  5. booklogged Said,

White Chocolate Moments sounds like it ought to be delicious.

  6. Stacy Said,

See you caught up with me. I told you that once Jeff got weekends off, my ability to read would slow down to a crawl. He has had Saturdays off the last two months and in May he gets Sats and Suns off!!!

  7. kailani Said,

I’m a Patterson fan. I think I’ve read almost everything he’s written. But yes, some of them are pretty graphic and freaks me out! LOL!

  8. amy Said,

I want to read that as well. Have you read Pretense by Lori Wick? Its one of my favorite books

  9. SnoopMurph Said,

Love Janet Evanovich books, I say read hers next!

  10. Kim Said,

I have never read any James Patterson books, but my grandmother LOVES his books. I’m always excited when he has a new release near the holidays. It makes Christmas shopping for her very easy. I got waaaay behind in my reading over spring break. I am hoping to catch up some this week while I spend lots of time reading since the girls and I all three have physicals this week, plus both girls have dental appointments. I should have plenty of time to read!

    I hope you’re doing well.

  11. Southern Girl Said,

I’m glad you liked “Beach Road”! That was one of his I really liked, too, though at the moment I’m hard pressed to remember much about it. I tend to like his “stand-alone” books more than I do the series one, like the Alex Cross ones. And from what I can tell, those really short chapters are in just about everything he writes.

  12. Debi Said,

I love, love, love James Patterson’s books! That’s one I haven’t read yet, but hope to someday soon. So glad you enjoyed it!

  13. mamichelle Said,

Patterson is my favorite! I love the Alex Cross series. I haven’t read Beach Road. I will have to get it. I’m just starting a Janet E. book, Plum (?) can’t remember.
