Hello? Anybody out there? Anyone, Bueller, anyone?! 😀

Our Internet service – computers and phone – have been down for the last 2 days or so. Thankfully our TV was not down, or else I might have gone stark raving mad!

To make a long story short – we lost power Tuesday evening early and apparently it shorted out our cable modem. Unfortunately, we got caught in the middle of the conversion of our cable/Internet/phone from Time Warner to Comcast. As I blogged about a few days ago, I’m not feeling very Comcastic 🙂 They had all sorts of trouble getting us a new modem (we drove to the office to get one ourselves, cutting our time from one week on a service call to a few hours for us to go pick it up), and then they couldn’t get the modem setup in their activation system or their billing system. Tim has spent countless hours on the phone with their customer service, trying to get it resolved. We still aren’t out of the woods yet – we still have to make the switch in our email address.

And, on top of that, Tim is so aggravated with the cable company, that he wants to shuck it all out the window and go get DSL through the phone company and mount a satellite on our house to get our TV that way. So, this may be the first of many outages for my Internet access and email. Oh, and to be safe, if you want to email me (provided I have Internet access), don’t use the roadrunner account any more. You can leave me a comment here and I’ll send you the email address I will keep and use through the conversion process.

On the bright side, I got a lot done around the house with no Internet access and no phone service! I watched some TV, did a lot of reading, caught up on the laundry and housework, baked some banana bread, and the biggie – started cleaning out our home office. You literally could not see the top of the desk, and I’m starting to see desktop wood now! Woo-hoo 🙂 I still have a ways to go, but I made a really large dent in it!

Hope everyone else is having a great week! Our technological woes continue around here. I hope they don’t rub off on anyone else

You have been so missed! I can’t count how many times I’ve clicked your link just to watch the little thingie spin away. I hope all is well VERY SOON!

  2. Lynne Said,

    I’m SO glad you’re back!!

  3. Suzanne Said,

Missed ya, wouldn’t want to be ya. !!

  4. Heidi Said,

I did sortof wonder what happened to ya!
I am so ambivalent with DSL verses Cable verses satallite. They all seem to have problems.

It is a good thing to get all that stuff done though! I have mountains of work around here. Have a great night Stacy!

  5. Becca Said,

Glad that you are back! Been wondering what was up! Whew! Email me with your new address for emergencies would ya? 🙂

  6. Laura Said,

It’s so funny – we are about ready to throw our dish and DSL lines out the window! Cable isn’t a good option though, so we’re dealing with it. 🙂

  7. Southern Girl Said,

See, just further evidence that Comcast is evil! 😉 I have this happen to me quite often — the power going out and it conking out the modem. Usually I’m able to coax it back to life, but I just know one day I won’t be able to and I’ll be in the same boat you are!

I’m glad you got connected again. We’ve done the dish thing ourselves, but I can’t say that it was any better. :-/

  8. Lauren S. Said,

I wondered where you were! I hope the problems will be solved soon. We switched to a dish, kept it for a year, and then switched back. You would be amazed at the deals the cable company will give you to ditch the dish!

  9. Stacy Said,

So glad to see you back. You guys were really missed!!!

And please make sure I have the right email. I miss you when you’re gone 🙂

  10. Cam Said,

I kept clicking, too. I missed you! This is one of my daily happys! 🙂

How frustrating about the cable company woes. I’d be ready to chuck it, too. I’ve heard that DSL is much slower than cable when it comes to uploading things, but is about equal speed when you’re downloading.
I like having satellite service over cable, mostly because of the free Sirius stations and a few other channels that our cable company doesn’t offer. BUT- the biggest complaint I have about satellite service is that whenever there’s heavy rain, we often lose our signal until it lets up. And you know how often we get heavy downpours here in the Gulf coast states!

I hope you get it all worked out soon, to your utmost satisfaction!

  11. Carrie Said,

Well there you are! LOL! You were missed!

Gracious! What troubles you’ve had! That sort of thing grates my nerves! Glad you at least had the TV to keep ya company.

Banana Bread almost makes the troubles worth it, LOL. Mmmmmm! Good Stuff!

I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed for ya that you don’t have too many more troubles!

  12. Susie Said,

YAY! I was about to get worried! So glad you are back! I’ll be excited to hear what you read while you were “away” 🙂

I wish y’all could use our ISP – they are absolutely fabulous. Maybe eventually you will get it all solved to a point where you’ll be happy with all the services (phone, internet, cable, etc.).

  13. Karen Said,

Wow, we have Cox Cable in OK and they aren’t any better:( Glad you are back!
