Blog Talkers

Blog TalkersKaren, over at Blog Talkers, is on a mission to help us come up with topics to talk about at our own blogs. She posts a new question every Sunday, and we have all week to talk about it. Go check it out if you ever want an idea about something to blog about. And, if you play along this week, leave me a comment and let me know, so I can be sure to come check it out. New questions are up on Sundays, so I’m really late this week!

This week’s question is – What is your most annoying habit? The thing that drives someone else crazyÒ€¦..

I didn’t have to think on this very hard, since I think there are a lot of things that I do that probably annoy other people. But, to be fair, I thought I would solicit Tim’s opinion. I think he could have come up with a lot of things, but the one he blurted out first was one I knew bothered him. Tim’s answer is “you come behind me and pick up and move things and then I can’t find where I put them.” I do do this, and I can remember being younger and my mom doing this, and I always hated it. I always swore up and down I would never be like that, but here I am, all grown up and I do it all of the time! I guess we truly are destined to turn out like our moms in a lot of ways! πŸ™„ Here’s the reason I do what he’s talking about – I think everything has a place. I’m very ordered and I like things in their places. When he comes in and tosses his keys on the kitchen counter when I’m trying to cook supper, I hang them up on the key rack (where they’re supposed to be). When he comes in from the back yard and tosses his baseball cap on the couch, I pick it up and put it back in our closet with his other caps. About 4 o’clock in the afternoon when the coffee pot has long been washed and put up, I pick up his coffee cup from the living room and go put it in the dishwasher. Things like that. But see, from his point of view, when he comes back a half hour later and wants his cap, he can’t find it because I’ve put it where it belongs, not left it where he drops it. I’m sure if I gave him half a chance, he’d probably come up with a really long list!

My answer to this question would be that I apologize all the time. It’s a self-esteem thing, but I’m always saying “I’m sorry” or “Sorry about that” or “Excuse me” when someone else runs into me in the store or whatever. I do catch myself doing it a lot and have tried to not say it so much, but it is one of those things that is ingrained in me since childhood. I apologize for everything πŸ™‚

What about you? What’s your most annoying habit? πŸ™‚

  1. Southern Girl Said,

I’ll have to get back to you on my own most annoying habit *g*, but I will say that if you asked my father what my mother’s most annoying habit was, it would absolutely match Tim’s answer. So, take comfort – you’re not alone! πŸ˜‰

  2. southernfriedgirl Said,

I always think I am right (and clearly I always am) and I am not the calmest driver on the planet.

    There are tons more though.

Oh, and I do what do you too. My hubs calls it the White Tornado. I blaze into a room, zip zip zip, cleaned. He hates that.

  3. Stacy Said,

I’ve asking three people close to me this question. One told me “nothing” and the other two ignored the question…hmmm…

So, I don’t guess I’ll be playing this week. No one will answer me. But, I agree with your apologizing all the time. Jeff gets onto me a lot for this.

  4. deb Said,

Oh me. I say “I’m sorry” an awful lot, too, Stace, and I know that I need to work on that.

My most annoying habit is probably swearing. I don’t swear in public and I don’t swear in front of the family or my kids or my grandkids, but when I’m alone or with Scott, I can cuss like a sailor. I think I picked it up from my Yankee husband ;~)

Oh, and I think you grew up to be MY mother! I need someone to pick up after me. Can I adopt you? lol

  5. Becky Said,

I’m with you…I apologize for everything, too! What’s with that? Hope you’re having a great weekend! πŸ™‚

  6. Debi Said,

Okay, this is probably going to say a lot about me here, but I would have to say that you are not the one with the annoying habit there! Tim is…for not putting things away. Yep, a personal issue here. Just one of those things…but I always feel like everyone around here takes advantage of me, knowing they can just be lazy and I’ll take care of “their mess” because I just can’t stand it. Yes, I realize they don’t all have the same standards as I do. But when I just spent an hour cleaning the bathroom, and 5 minutes later someone’s too lazy to hang the hand towel back up, well…
So, anyway, I think I have the same annoying habit as you…but I’m much more reluctant to admit it’s entirely my fault!

  7. Cam Said,

Well, you must not be that annoying, if that’s all you can come up with! πŸ˜‰

My list of annoying traits is long. There’s just something about me that rubs most people the wrong way. I don’t even know where to start! LOL

  8. Laura Said,

I do the same thing, and I have trained my husband where things “are supposed to go”. If he asked me where it went, or why it got moved, he knows it would just open up a can of worms where I get annoyed with HIM for not putting it in the proper place (and sometimes I do anyway – I don’t have time to put my stuff AND his stuff away). Hehe.

  9. Shawna Said,

Beef picks my stuff up, too! I keep a glass of water, the same cup, all day, and he if he sees it, he puts it in the sink. This has happened several times when I’ve just poured it, too! Stop trying to keep the house clean, Honey;)

I am an apologizer, too! Very hard to break!!

  10. jen Said,

My most annoying habit? Hmmmmmm. I try to tell people what to do ..some say I’m a little bossy. Me?

I get your habit….Scott does the same thing except he throws things away if they dont have a place and sometimes its something important.
    This was fun.
