Wish Lists

Time for another Question of the Day! I had a survey up on our main website, but it only got 3 responses, so I thought I would ask the same question here. Do you have any wish lists online? I use Amazon’s wish list system, but I know there are others out there, although I can’t think of any off the top of my head! Do you use Amazon or another site, or do you not have a wish list? What is on your wish list? Mine has books, movies, kitchen items, personal items, etc. In fact, I have several separate lists at Amazon, by category.

So, that’s today’s Question of the Day: Do you have a wish list at Amazon? What kind of items are on it? Do you ever order for yourself from your wish list, or do others order things for you from your list? Leave me a comment and let me know!

  1. meeyauw Said,

You hit a sore spot: I have three wishlists online (froggle, amazon, and I also tag my deli.cio.us bookmarks with “wishlist”). All of this effort is for my adult kids who always complain that they don’t know what to get me!. Now what could be clearer than three lists on a blog? A sledgehammer would be clearer, obviously, since I am still the only one who accesses my lists!

  2. Dawn Said,

i do my wishlist on kaboodle. it’s on my blog (on the right idebar i think) & i like that i can link right to any item, anywhere on the internet. and yes, i do receive some gifts from it or purchase for myself. i partially use the wishlist to know right where i saw something i wanted but couldn’t purchase at the time!

  3. Becky Said,

No wish lists for me! Sounds like a good idea though!

  4. Jen Said,

I do have an Amazon wishlist for myself for books that I want to read this year. I also have one for each of my kids for bday/Christmas gift ideas. I don’t normally tell people about the lists, though. I just use it for my own reference so that I can remember the things that we might want.

  5. Laura Said,

I posted about my wishlist a while back. I have an Amazon wishlist because most everything I want is on that site – books, music, and DVDs. I have used Kaboodle, too. And before my MIL and SIL discovered it, it was more of a way for me to keep track of things I wanted to buy. But it’s been awesome since they found it – easy way for them to figure out what I want! For my birthday I got 2 books and a DVD from my wishlist – awesome! Saves me from buying it for myself, which I would have done at some point anyway. 🙂

  6. Heidi Said,

Hi. Good question. No, I don’t have a wishlist. However, I did have a big long wedding registry and a big long baby registry, so I definitely am not against them!
I am not familiar with the amazon one. Wish lists are a bit of a sticky situation for me. MY family requests a wish list around bday or xmas time if you haven’t already provided it. My In-Laws sortof shun wish lists. I end up usually getting a bunch of stuff that I don’t like or Really don’t need from them. So I have started sending them short wish lists, especially for my son. They often ignore it and then we’re stuck with junky toys. *sigh*

  7. Debi Said,

Rich and I have a combined Amazon wish list. It’s more of a reminder to ourselves about things we might want to buy in the future than anything else. I put a lot of things on there for homeschooling, for example. But we do occasionally buy things for each other off the list. I also have a wish list at 2peasinabucket, which Rich buys me stuff from.

  8. Gail Said,

I have an Amazon list, but you know that already! And I’m probably one of the only ones that responded when you had it as a poll on the site!
And yes I order from them…. for you, other family members and sometimes even me 🙂

  9. Stacy Said,

I have an amazon wishlist. I don’t think anyone uses it, but I do try to keep it updated!!!

  10. Barb Said,

I don’t have any on line, Stacy, but I have FOUR on my fridge. Does that count? LOL

  11. Karla Said,

I do have a Wish List on Amazon that I share with my daughter. It lists books I would like for her to have…or parenting books that I would like to have.

  12. Shawna Said,

The only wishlist I have used is Amazon, just for books that I haven’t found a low enough price on. I think it’s empty right now.

  13. Lynne Said,

I have a wish list on Amazon. I told my daughters, husband and granddaughter about it before Christmas. Do you think any one of them looked at it? Not a chance. Didn’t even get a gift card for Amazon (or Barnes and Noble or Books-a-Million). Maybe they’re all deaf!

  14. Cam Said,

I keep an Amazon wish list, mainly for myself to keep track of things I need or want but can’t get right at the moment. A while back, I put a link to my Amazon list up on my blog, on the off chance some random person sees it and feels particularly charitable. LOL! 😀

  15. Chris Said,

I have a wish list on Amazon. I haven’t sent it to anyone. I use it mostly to catalogue the books that catch my eye and I’d like to read at some point. Sometimes I order them, or I might just get them from the library.

  16. jen Said,

The only time I do a wish list is for Christmas….I have to make one for Scott, my mom, and mother in law…the reason is I give them all different ideas…otherwise I would the same thing from them all.

Just to let you know I love the question of the day….

  17. Debi Said,

I use Amazon for a wishlist and also a site called WishCentral. The cool thing about WishCentral is I can put all kinds of things on it, not just stuff available through Amazon. Like my scrapbook stuff. I use Amazon for books and movies, but also use WishCentral for everything. Jono also has a wishlist at WishCentral and we use those wishlists for gift giving. But I also get myself stuff off my wishlist. I save up my hobby money for getting books or scrapbook supplies. I’m currently saving up to buy the series of Alias on DVD. 🙂

  18. Eden Said,

I actually do have a wish list on amazon.com, however it is a combination wish list for Steve, Olyvia and myself. Books and music are on the list. I never order the things I want for myself, but I do occationally order items on the wish list that are for Steve or Olyvia. No, other people don’t order for me from the wish list.

By the way, I love your question of the day. It’s interesting to see all the comments and the differences b/t everyone.

  19. southernfriedgirl Said,

I love the Amazon wish list and use it a lot. It helps me keep track of stuff I might see just once and think “hey, that’s cool.” I have bought myself things off there and received others as gifts. I think it is the best thing evah.

  20. Southern Girl Said,

The only wish list I have is at Amazon, but I mostly use it to help myself remember what I want or want to get for someone else or what i want to look for at the library. Except now Amazon has a shopping list, too, so I guess I should be using that. 😉
