Romance
So, in honor of Valentine’s Day . . .
Love stories? Yes or No? Yes, I love a good romance or love story, or even a good fiction book about relationships. I seem to read a lot of what I term “women’s fiction”, where there’s some kind of conflict, often between the man and woman, and of course, they end up together and in love. As long as it’s got a happy ending, I’m good with it!
If yes, “romances” as a genre? Or just, well, stories that have love stories? (Nobody’s going to call “Pride & Prejudice” a “romance,” right?) I like “romance” as a genre, but don’t misunderstand, it’s not a Harlequin type thing I like. I like stories that have a love element to them, but it’s not always the main plot. An exception might be a book like “The Princess” by Lori Wick, which is mostly about love and falling in love, but it does have the Christian theme to it. OK, I’m just rambling here, I do like stories that contain love, not just a plain love story.
I love romance! I love to read! Thus, I love romance genre! But, I’ll read anything once (if I can make it through)! I love this booking through Thursday meme. Very neat idea for all us booklovers out there!
What I like about this meme is how it forces me to clarify and think more about topics that I originally would think superficial and unimportant. I’m learning how important the great classic love books are in my life.
I definitely love a good romantic book. My favorite would have to be “The Notebook” I currently reading “The Time Traveler’s Wife” which is not your typical romance, but I can see that it is going to end up being a good love story in the end. I’ll post my thoughts about it when I finish on my blog.
I love romance — I’m not a huge fan of category (the Harlequin type) but I do read them. Mostly, I love ones that challenge me a little more or stretch the imagination like romantic suspense (Holly Lisle, Lisa Gardner, new Julie Garwood, new Catherine Coulter, etc) or paranormal romance.
Still… I really don’t enjoy a book unless there’s romance in it, regardless of genre.
I really try to avoid “romances.” I don’t mind a love story within a general or Christian book, but have often put a book back down if I realize it’s categorized as romance. I’m such a snob!
I do have to admit though, I have been reading lots of Wanda Brunstetter and I think her books fall under the romance category. I absolutely LOVE them. I started reading them because I love all things Amish, but I’m glad i found her.
I love romance; then again I also love romance suspense, mysteries, thrillers, fantasy etc etc…you can say I love books in general, and what most matters is a great story in it. 🙂
I agree what most everyone said here. I love reading romance 🙂
Most often though I read romance suspense and when I want change of mood I turn to different genres. Mood play important part for me *grin*
Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂
