Finished “Blue Smoke”

Blue Smoke by Nora RobertsI finished another book last night, “Blue Smoke” by Nora Roberts. This is a paperback I picked up at the library sale last weekend for a whopping 50 cents. I got it because I knew that this was the next movie coming up on Lifetime TV (Nora Roberts, 4 movies, 4 consecutive Mondays). I have been enjoying the movies and wanting to read more Nora Roberts anyway.

This book was really good! I read it fairly quickly and had a hard time putting it down, which is always the sign of a good book for me. It wasn’t hard to figure out, no big twist, but I did love the characters and the story (and the ending!). Good book, and I’m looking forward to reading more Nora Roberts in the future.

For the record, that makes 8 books so far this year, with a total of 2,724 pages read. Up next is the 4th book in the Abram’s Daughters series by Beverly Lewis. I really love these books too, but am spacing them out, and mixing in other books and types of reads in the middle. I tend to get burned out when I try to read series books back to back to back. Weird, I know, but that’s me and I usually do better not to read them all at one time. One reason is that I really enjoy these books and sort of don’t want to see them end!

  1. Debi Said,

I can’t read series books all in a row either. I like to space them out with other books in between.

  2. Stacy Said,

I’ve only read one Nora Roberts book and it didn’t rock my world. Did I start with the wrong one?? You & I usually agree on books.

  3. Gail Said,

I finished this one last night also, liked the characters and story for the most part. But the last 50-70 pages really disturbed me with the descriptions of violence, especially involving that one woman. Had a hard time getting settled after that to sleep.

  4. Debi Said,

I tend to be the opposite…when I find a series I like, I want to read them all at once! Doesn’t usually happen that way, because I just don’t have them or something…but I can really get sucked in sometimes and can’t pace myself.

  5. Kim Said,

I love Beverly Lewis, but you probably already know that about me. I tend to read series all in a row up until the last one currently out…I hang on to that one for a while and go back to it ages later. It’s not an intentional thing I do, but I have noticed that I always seem to do it that way…I’m just weird I guess. I still finishing up Light from Heaven by Jan Karon. I’m going through this one pretty slow. She has a new series coming out later this year.

  6. Write From Karen Said,

Wha …? Is it possible I’ve MISSED a Nora Roberts book?!

Blue Smoke, Blue Smoke… the name sounds familiar but I don’t think I’ve read it. You know you read too much when that happens. lol

However, I’m curious now. I’ll put that on my TBR pile.

  7. Sherry Said,

I’m glad you liked the book! I really love Nora Roberts! She is one of my favorite authors.

I can’t stop myself — I am reading 4 books at a time and I never finish any of them. I mean it takes forever that way. I wish I would stop doing that!

As for the classics — I joined that Classics challenge — and I am NOT going to get in all 5 books my the end of Feb. I’ll have to be happy with 3. Ah well. That’s what I get for reading all those other books at the same time. Why can’t I just FOCUS on one thing and not always live every aspect of my life all spread out? It’s my biggest downfall. I cannot seem to focus. Ever.

    *sigh*

I plan on watching “One Night with the King” tomorrow night. I will most definitely blog about it on Sunday 🙂

    Have a great weekend,

    Sherry

  8. Judi Said,

I have really got to find out if the library close here has sales. I need to read more Nora Roberts too. I have LOVED the movies. I ditto your process for reading “series” books.
