Habit-Forming
What are your reading habits? Do you tend to read at specific times during the day, or does it vary from day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute?
I am a creature of habit, to be sure. My sister once coined the phrase “routinized” about me, which means I stick to a routine, like clockwork. I do break out from time to time, but the majority of time that I spend reading is in the evenings, before bed. Sometimes, if there’s not much on TV or Tim doesn’t coerce me into watching a movie, I will read earlier in the evening. But mostly, it’s just a half hour or so before bedtime. The only other time that I might read is on the weekends, when Tim is playing golf, hitting practice balls, or at the driving range. I am not a golf fanatic like him; I’d rather spend my time reading.

I’m the same way, Stacy! I read about 30-45 minutes at night right before I go to sleep. I’m practically programmed that way, so if I ever read any other time of the day, my brain thinks it’s bedtime and I get sleepy!
Occasionally, on days like today (we got SNOW!) I like to curl up on the couch and read. I may just treat myself to a little reading later this afternoon. 😉
That’s the way both Rich and I are, too. Love crawling into bed at night to read! Unfortunately, I rarely last 30 minutes before I’m drifting off. Rich sometimes reads for literally hours in bed, especially on weekends. (But then, it’s not him getting up through the night with munchkins…and I’m never the one who gets to sleep in.)
Stacy, you always have such great questions! I wonder how you think of something new everyday!
Anyhow, I read in spurts. I don’t have a schedule, and if I did before, I don’t now that I have a toddler. I do find time at night to read if I have something interesting to read, however.
I don’t have any reading habits. I read when I can. Which usually means I read on the bus and a little bit before bed. Life and people usually get into my way of reading though…
If I didn’t have work and family, I’d have no routines.
I just posted my second BTT.
I read often, but HAVE to read before I go to sleep at night. I also carry a book along with me every where I go just in case there is some down time standing in line or whatever. I’ll check back next Thursday…
Yes, we have to cram in those moments. But I can’t handle it gracefully if I have to stop reading a vital section of a book because the doctor is ready or it’s time for a class to begin!
I always read just before going to sleep, although I never get more than a page or two before it hits my nose! My DH is always turning out my light and saving my place. Takes me a looong time to finish a book. Great question!
I honestly think I start to panic towards 9pm if I don’t think I”m going to get some time to read. I like to read in the evening before bed also, but DH doesn’t like the light on so I can’t read myself to sleep anymore. When he comes in, the lights go out. Probably a good thing – I used to stay up till 1-2am reading. ;0
I should be able to read during the weekend, but that isn’t so! I spent most of the weekend doing grocery shopping and visiting people *sigh*…so my reading are done mostly on the weekdays. I tend to read late in the hours, since I am owl hehehe. I forgot to mention at my blog, that reading at night help me to fall asleep. Without reading, I won’t be able to sleep. At all. I’ll be tossing and turning…urgh!
Anyway Happy Belated Booking Through Thursday! 🙂
My reading habits are as such: feast or famine! I get a few months of the year where I read several books a week. Then there is usually at least one month a year where I do not finish a single book. The rest of the year is about a book a week.
I mostly read in bed, before bed. Sometimes during the day, but I feel guilty like I should be cleaning something!
I also read in dr’s offices, in the car while waiting for someone/thing, any other appointments. Once in awhile I read at stop lights if the book is really good 🙂
