Thanksgiving Question of the Day

Happy Thanksgiving!Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I know it’s a day early, but I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to blog for the next day or so. So, I wanted to be sure to wish everyone a very joyous, and safe, holiday.

We’re going to one of my husband’s aunt’s house, and will see a ton of family. We usually spend Thanksgiving with my side of the family, but both of my sisters had other plans this year, so we’ll go to Tim’s mom’s extended family. There are often anywhere from 50 to 80 people there, and it will be nice to see everyone, and there will be a ton of food. I honestly don’t know what all they will have, but I’m hoping for some turkey or ham! They often do chicken, since there’s so many people to feed, and one of his aunts makes the best chicken and dumplings. But, something inside of me just really wants turkey for Thanksgiving! My side of the family always has a turkey, with dressing (we don’t call it stuffing around here!), cranberry sauce, veggies and my Broccoli casserole, which I will make later today to take to Tim’s family’s house.

So, that brings us to today’s Question of the Day:

Do you eat turkey on Thanksgiving? Or maybe ham or is it something altogether different? What’s your favorite dish to eat on Thanksgiving?

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

Aw, I love your questions! As always!

I don’t care for turkey. But I don’t absolutely hate it. I’ll just head straight for the ham. Because I love ham. 😉 Which is particularly interesting because I don’t much like any meat.

Although I claim that cranberry sauce is my favorite (I will never go without it – I even convinced my mom to buy a can for our after-meal snacks), I have to say I am a mashed potatoes person. I love mashed potatoes. Really really good ones. Mmm. Once again, your blog makes me hungry. 😉

  2. Stacy Said,

Well, let’s see. We are going to Cracker Barrel for the second straight year. They serve some turkey and ham on their Thanksgiving plate.

I am making Jeff some Ham Sandwiches in the crockpot for Friday though. He’s been asking for them, but our schedules haven’t worked where I can make them yet.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  3. booklogged Said,

Thanks for the Holiday wish. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your husbands family. Were in the world do you meet that will hold so many people?

We always have turkey – my mother fixes one and so do I.

  4. Becca Said,

I hope that you have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Mitch and I are having a big roasting chicken for Thanksgiving. A turkey is just too much for just the two of us. I hate to say this, but I am sure that if we were to look in the freezer, we could probably come up with turkey that is vacpacked from last Christmas! it isn’t that we don’t like it, it is just that I can eat so little meat that it almost isn’t worth the effort. We both love chicken. So we are brining the bird tonight. Easy peasy rotisserie style and yummy. We will still have all the sides, including pumpkin pie with cool whip!

    Hugs,
    Becca

  5. paperback writer Said,

    Yep!

    Turkey. Turkey. Turkey!

  6. Dianne Said,

Turkey, gotta have turkey on Thanksgiving. I bought a fresh one this morning – no freezer faux pas for this girl. My favorites – turkey white meat with whole berry cranberry sauce and sausage stuffing with gravy. I make so much stuffing ahead of time and freeze it so when we run out of leftovers, which happens way too soon, there’s more where that came from. Mmmmm.

Hope you & Tim have a super holiday . . . and a blessed time with your family.

  7. rach Said,

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We don’t celebrate it here but I find the celebration very interesting. I’m sure it’s a lovely celebration spent with people close to your heart.

Have a wonderful time. Take care.

  8. Angie Said,

I am a ham person unless the turkey is cajun deep fried but I only eat the white meat. I dislike the fact that my work always does a Thanksgiving meal the Wed. before at work and then my single’s group does one the Saturday before – so when the day actually gets here I’m stuffed and could care less if I see another bite of food!

So tonight when I should be baking for my mom’s – I’m indulging in a glass of wine – ok maybe a glass and 1/2. It’s something that I don’t do very often but I think it’s called for today!

Have a great Thanksgiving and come and check the photos of our new fur baby when you get a chance!

  9. Wendy in MD Said,

I love turkey on Thanksgiving for the tradition, but I don’t really eat a lot of turkey. I’m making the turkey this year and maybe a roast. I haven’t decided about the roast yet.

My favorite Thanksgiving dish? Not sure, really. Probably the sweet potatos. Or the mac and cheese. Can I say both? LOL

  10. Susie Said,

I prefer ham, but my family usually does the turkey thing at Thanksgiving. We sometimes have ham for Christmas, though. I love those honey-baked ones! I want to try a fried turkey sometime, they sound like they’d be delicious. I’ve never met anything fried that I didn’t like. 🙂

    Happy Thanksgiving, Stacy!

  11. Claire Said,

We eat turkey (smoked!) but this year my aunt wanted ham…so we have turkey AND ham. I like to eat dressing at Thanksgiving b/c that’s teh only time I get it. We will also have green beans, squash casserole, broccoli casserole, cranberry salad, rolls, and rice (this is a Nettles thing…I don’t understand why we have to have rice with dressing but we do). Desserts include blueberry cobbler, pecan pie, and a couple of cakes. Friday we are having gumbo.

  12. Cam Said,

Turkey! Must have turkey on Thanksgiving.
And yes, you’re very right…it’s DRESSING. 😉 And it’s yummmmmmmy.

  13. Suzanne Said,
