The Object of His Affection

Tim has a new love – his new big screen plasma TV. It still pales in comparison to his golf addiction – he is more than willing to leave his new TV sitting at home all alone and go play golf (he’s done that twice, and we’ve had the TV 5 days), but he does love his new TV. It’s definitely the object of his affection right now. 😆

Here’s our old entertainment center, sniff sniff. I loved this thing, I bought it before I met Tim and it was the focal point of my setup for our living room. It’s really nice, a Hooker, and I hate to get rid of it, but we don’t have room for it. Anyone know someone who would give it a good home? 🙂

Here’s the new baby, still in the box:

Here’s some of the cables that have to be rewired for all of our geeky electronics we have:
Lots of Cables!

We spent the better part of one afternoon taking the old stuff out and setting up the new entertainment console we had to buy to hold the TV. The new TV was too wide for the old entertainment center. The new one is really too big, but that’s ok – it gives him room in the future to get a bigger one and us not have to buy furniture again. He’s hoping to get a mounting bracket for the plasma and hang it from the new console. That way, it will be more centered and will also allow us to swivel it around.

Needless to say, the first thing we checked was football:

A full 24 or 36 hours later, I was allowed to look at the Food Channel:

We decided to squeeze the DVD cabinet to the side of the new entertainment console. That’s the cedar piece in the picture below – Tim made this for us from wood from his dad’s land and it’s very sentimental to me. It doesn’t really fit and the woods don’t go, but I couldn’t bear to part with it or relegate it to a corner. Needless to say, we have so many DVD’s now that they don’t all fit. I’m having to fill the drawers in the new entertainment center with CD’s, DVD’s and other media. We have more media than we have space for!

    nice TV!!!!

  2. Bev Said,

Very, very nice. Tell Tim congratulations on the new window to the world of football. 😉 Cheers.

  3. Laura Said,

How beautiful! The TV is definitely the focal point of our living room – the rest is very OLD and shabby furniture. I notice you’re watching Giada… we love her. 🙂

  4. Gail Said,

Very nice tv! That new cabinet is so big though, guess it might take some getting used to maybe? We can email some of the kids if you want and see if they want to strike a money deal with you on the old one, I love it! I have a relatively new one or I’d be bargaining with you, mine is Hooker too I think.

  5. BillH Said,

Very Nice!! I can totally relate to Tim’s addiction – we just got a Toshiba 50″ DLP. Had to rework the entire family room so that all the junk that was in our entertainment center can be kept in the room instead of boxes in the closet.

  6. ZuphChic Said,

A plasma TV and the Food Network! What more does a girl need???

  7. Jim McKee Said,

So, lemme get this straight… You’re looking for a good home for a Hooker?

    Hmmmm… Have you tried Nevada?

    ;-]

  8. Chris Said,

    I AM ON MY WAY!!

  9. Trista Said,

At least he won’t turn into a couch potato. We bought a DLP last year, and thought we would never look at another TV again. I blogged about it here: http://israelow.com/blogmarch05.htm and posted photos here: http://israelow.com/ournest.htm

The funny thing is that we turned our dining room into a family room recently, and now spend more time in there, and our big TV in the den is left all alone other than movie nights. hahaha Go figure!
