Just Ain’t Fair

I’m sorry, but it’s just not right that this thing is labeled “lowfat”! Look at the very bottom, it says, really small “a lowfat creamy blend of Starbucks coffee and milk”. Yeah, lowfat, right. Now, don’t get me wrong – it is really good. The problem is that this bottle is small, and I can drink it in the blink of an eye. It has 200 calories for this one itsy bitsy teenie weenie bottle:

Frappuccino

It’s just not right. That’s all I’m saying. 🙄

P.S. This blog entry reminds me of a segment I saw last week on “The View”. They had a nutritionist on, who was talking about how many summer drinks were making women add extra, hidden calories to their diet. I was shocked at how many calories some of these drinks have. Check out the extended page for a section I’ve cut and pasted from their website.

Cut and pasted from the ABC website for “The View”, it was on last Friday’s show:

Elizabeth Somer, dietician and author of 10 Habits That Mess Up A Woman’s Diet, revealed which summer drinks can actually be making us fat!

  1. Laura Said,

Hehe. Yesterday, a co-worker brought me a Starbucks nutrition guide, and I laughed because the back says: “20 Delicious Choices Under 200 Calories”. As if 200 calories is just negligible.

  2. kathy m Said,

LA-LA-LA I can’t hear you. I really don’t want to know how many calories are in this stuff because I’m sure it’s a lot and not good for me.

  3. Gail Said,

Too bad they taste so good and are so small like you said! No, not fair but you know what we were always told about “fair” when growing up! Like we ever want to hear that again!

  4. Bev Said,

I’m sure glad I don’t give in to my urgings to buy these when I go to the store. I’m too cheap. 😉 Instead I got one of those “Back to Basics Coacoa-Latte” makers and I make my own. I use a form of instant coffee I make in a cold extraction device, then add low-fat cream, and Splenda. Tastes the same and I’m hoping that it’s not as bad for me as the “real” stuff. 😉

  5. Dianne Said,

Yeah, I used to like those things until I realized what they were doing to me. Now I’ll have a plain skim decaf iced latte about once a week instead. Interesting list of the drink calories too.

  6. Lisa Said,

I love those. I did actually find a lite mocha one that has only 150 calories and 2 grams of fat. And its actually pretty yummy! Have a great day!

  7. presentstorm Said,

I LOVE Starbucks frappas… OH my I used to drink one of those every morning before I gave up caffiene. Now I get decaf when I go there and if I buy the bottles I have to get strawberry cream. I am like you though.. I drink them in seconds. I got one this past weekend when we stopped in to Walgreens to get some allergy prescripions and I had it gone before we pulle dout of the parking space..lol So sad.

  8. BillH Said,

My Diet Mountain Dew still has no sugar and no calories no matter how much I drink. And it is quasi-healthy. The second ingredient listed is “concentrated orange juice”… it’s just GOT to be healthy, right?!

  9. Tracie Said,

Lots of calories, but so so so so good!!

  10. Trista Said,

I am like Kathy…poking my fingers in my ears, closing my eyes, and saying….LA LA LA LA! hahahaha
I didn’t see Route 44 Dr. Pepper on that list of bad stuff so I guess that means they are not too bad! 😀
