Summer Solstice

Today is “officially” the first day of summer, otherwise known as the summer solstice. It’s also the longest day of the year, and I for one am looking forward to shorter days, and cooler temps!

Anyway, it’s been summer here for several weeks, maybe a month or more. It’s been really hot, and up until a few days ago, we had had no rain. I think we went 2 weeks or more with no rain, and it was so blazingly hot and dry. Thankfully, we had a shower over the weekend, and another one on Monday. Irregardless, it’s still really hot. Part and parcel of living in the Deep South. 🙄

I took this picture several weeks ago with my cameraphone, I think it was in late May. So, we’ve been hot here for a while!

Wow, it must be weird to expect rain in the summer. 2 weeks? We go months and months…. 😉

  2. Ficklechick Said,

    That’s damn hot! 😉

  3. Susie Said,

Yeow! That’s pretty hot. We got up to about 92 today, I think. We’re having a bad dry spell here, too, usually we can count on an afternoon thunderstorm at least once a week in the summer, but so far it hasn’t happened that way this year.

    Stay cool! 🙂

  4. Tracie Said,

It is way hot here too–and we are so low on rain that our water company just sent us a notice that we can only water lawns and such on certain days or they will fine us. I am not exactly sure how the water company can charge us money for using something that we pay them for (it isn’t like they are ownded by the city or something)….but oh well-no watering on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays in the near future!
