Hanging Out

Today, I think we’re going to hang out around the house. We were gone all day yesterday to Tim’s parents for him to hunt. He had a good time, saw a deer, but didn’t take a shot at it (you’ll have to ask him, it baffles me, but he’s very selective about what he shoots). We have a couple more things to buy before Christmas, but neither one of us really feels like getting out today and fighting the crowds and traffic. So, I think we’re going to hang out here and watch some of the NFL playoff games, and hopefully wrap some presents. There’s still a pile of them left in the spare bedroom, waiting to be wrapped up! 🙂

Quick Update

Just a quick update… we’re headed out in a little while. Tim has the day off and has gone out to do a little shopping on his own. 😀 Then, around lunch, we’ll leave for his parents house. Gun season opens back up today, and he’s chomping at the bit to go hunting. Fred is coming to go hunting with him, and I’m going to go and hang out with his mom, even though I probably should stay here and clean and wrap more presents. We got some wrapped last night, but there’s still a lot left to go. Maybe I can knock more of them out this weekend.

Friday is usually a really good day for memes, so I may have to check them out and do a couple today or tomorrow 🙂

Catching up…

We stayed so busy yesterday that I didn’t have time to blog about it. So here’s a quick post to catch everyone up. 🙂

Tim took off at lunch yesterday and we headed out. Stopped at Ruby Tuesday’s first for lunch. I learned the hard way that I do not like their veggie burgers. I ordered one, the mushroom swiss veggie burger, and I swear, that was the ickiest thing I have tasted in a long time. Tim tasted it too and declared it gross. He got the waitress to bring me a plain beef patty, which I substituted on my bun and was a happy camper.

After lunch, we did some shopping and errands all afternoon. I think we’re finished with everyone now, or at least I hope so. I have some things I have ordered online that are not here yet, and the estimates are saying another week. I hope it doesn’t cut it too close, and they get here in a timely manner. Anyway, Tim and I also did a little shopping for us. We got Tim some clothes that were part of his belated birthday present. We also picked up one or two things to “give” each other at Christmas. We already know what they are, but we’ll wrap them up anyway! Nice to have something you have picked out and tried on and it fits, you like it, etc. 🙂

On the way home, Tim suggested we try out the new CiCi’s pizza buffet on Lakeland…

Back out to Fight the Hordes

Well, thank goodness we got some rest yesterday, for today it’s back to the grindstone. 😀 Tim is back at work today, and I’m headed out after lunch to run errands, do more shopping and go to the dentist. I will probably be gone all afternoon, so another busy day. Out fighting the holiday hordes and traffic. Yuck.

On the bright side, I’m nearly through shopping. Still all the wrapping left to get started on, but at least it’s some progress!

Sunday Evening

After a really busy day on both Friday and Saturday, I pushed for some down time today, and Tim agreed. We’ve been hanging out all afternoon, playing on the computer, playing games, watching football on TV and just generally hanging out and resting. It feels pretty good!

We’re going to watch the Survivor: Guatemala finale tonight. It was supposed to start at 7 PM, but the football game ran late and now they have 60 Minutes on. Looks like it won’t start till late, around 7:40. I’m glad we were here and not gone and set the tape – we would have missed the end! 🙂

Friday + Saturday

On my way out the door, so here’s the short version:

I went Christmas shopping almost all day yesterday and am about 90 or 95% done now. The stuff left is stuff that Tim has to help with. We went to eat supper at the new Applebee’s in Madison. Good food, good service. Gotta love a new restaurant that just opened!

We’re headed out in a few minutes to Hattiesburg. Zack’s All Star game is today at 1:30 at the big stadium. Going to see all of Tim’s family plus my dad too, so it should be a good day 🙂

Bah Humbug… Part Deux

Christmas

OK, for those of you who read this post, I thought you might enjoy a little update.

Yesterday, I got my “rear in gear” and got busy. I went Christmas shopping most of the day, and then when Tim got in, he offered to take me out to dinner, and go Christmas shopping with me. Tim is much more decisive than I am, and is better about getting stuff for everyone (I can’t decide, and stress over whether I should get this or that, or if they’d like something else, and on and on ad nauseum). So, I’m happy to report that things are looking a little better. At least some of the presents are bought now. The decorations were already up, although there are no wrapped presents under the tree and no Christmas cards ready to mail, but at least it’s a big step in the right direction. I think once more of the “work” is done, less stress will equate more Christmas spirit to me. I do enjoy listening to my music (which I’m trying to do more of), and when I start wrapping, I will put on one of my favorite Christmas movies and watch, so that will all help. And, it does help that it’s cooled off and feels more seasonal.

Oh, and for those of you who are interested, Tim took me to Logan’s last night. It was really good! Tim had Southwest BBQ chicken and I had Carolina Shrimp (fried) with one of their yummy sweet potatoes. It was all good, and we ate too many warm yeast rolls!

Bah Humbug… and Santa’s Elves

Christmas

I haven’t really had any Christmas spirit so far this year. We’ve put up the tree, my Snow Village, the outside lights and I’ve been listening to Christmas music on my iPod, computer and the surround sound in the den. And… nothing. No Christmas spirit. Not one bit. I’m having a very Bah Humbug kind of holiday so far.

I finally bit the bullet and started doing some shopping. I did a little bit when Gail came down last week and I went again today. I got a few things done, so at least it’s a start. We still have a long way to go though. I wonder if the presents will now magically wrap themselves and appear under the tree?! 🙂 Same thing with the Christmas cards… I wonder if somehow, during the middle of the night, they might suddenly be addressed and written and all ready to go. Ya think?! 😀

Weather Update

The bad weather we were forecast to receive has yet to materialize. No storms blew through overnight and we’ve only had one little drizzle so far this afternoon. It is a lot cooler than yesterday, when it got in the upper 70’s. It looks really dreary outside though. 🙁

Bass Pro Shop

Bass Pro Shops We went with a whole crew out to the new Bass Pro Shop that opened this week in nearby Pearl. Not as big as the headquarters one we have visited in Missouri, but still nice and good to have so close by. We had a good time. Got there early and met up with Mitchell, Terry, Tony and his son Ryan, and also Fred. I talked Tim into getting us coffee and a huge cinnamon roll from the Starbucks inside (I had a white chocolate mocha, yum). We stayed and shopped for a while. Fred bought a double gun case that he had been wanting, but had to stand in a humungously long line to pay, probably close to an hour, maybe more. Tim and I had a whole basket of stuff, including several Christmas presents, but didn’t want to wait that long, so we put it all back and left empty-handed. 🙁

We all went to eat a late lunch afterwards, at Golden Corral, and I for one, consumed way too much food. Fred left after lunch, to head back home, and everyone else headed for Academy Sports. Tim and I bought a few things there, for us, and Ryan got a football. 🙂 We made another stop at Hobbytown for something Tony needed, then they all headed back towards home.

Tim and I got home just before dark, and started putting up all the outside lights. He hung the icicle lights for me, helped me with the lighted garland over the doorway, and we hung the garland, lights and bows all along the back deck for us to enjoy. It all looks really good! It took a while, so we ran to Sonic for a late supper. I wanted to try the new Gingerbread Blast, and I’m happy to report the half I just ate was really good!

Busy day, but fun and productive. The best kind! It’s been soooo windy all day, blustery and quite warm. A strong front is supposed to move through overnight with bad weather and a lot of rain. Keep your fingers crossed that it doesn’t get bad here, and especially, that it doesn’t blow down any of the lights we hung tonight!

Been Busy

Been busy the last few days. Tim has been working from home, and working late at night. He even had to work all day and then half the night on his birthday, poor thing. Then, Gail came down Wednesday afternoon and we went shopping. I cooked us all some supper (homemade sausage corn chowder) and we watched Lost. Gail spent the night and we went shopping again today (for most of the day). Today was the last day of gun season, so Tim went deer hunting. Busy, busy, busy!

UPDATE: For those of you who asked or didn’t, no, Tim didn’t shoot another deer. He didn’t even see one this time. 😥

It’s beginning to look a lot …

like Christmas around here! At least, more than it was a couple of days ago 🙂

Yesterday, on that national holiday known as Tim’s birthday, I got my Snow Village put up (although I have a light out in one of the houses and have to go in search of a bulb), got the tree up and most of the rest of the inside decorations. We still have all the outside lights and decorations to do, but it is looking more like Christmas. It took a while though. Tim had to work late, starting at 11 PM, so I stayed up pretty late and worked on stuff. A lot later than I’m used to sitting up, and I am feeling it so far this morning. 😥

Now, about it feeling a lot more like Christmas, it doesn’t. I don’t seem to have one bit of Christmas spirit this year. I have absolutely no idea of what to get anyone this year, and no one, and I mean no one has given me a list of any kind, any ideas, suggestions, hints or otherwise helpful information. I refuse to just go out and buy people something for the sake of just buying them a present. I’d rather get someone a present that they want, need (although both of our families are very blessed, we really don’t want for any kind of necessities), or would really just like to have or enjoy getting. But, without a little cooperation, that ain’t gonna happen. 😀

So, come on family members, send me something to work with. My Amazon list is up to date, so you can’t say you don’t have any ideas for me. There’s 20 or 25 things on there, so no excuses. I’m into books, cookbooks, iTunes gift cards, and warm footwear this year 🙂 These new tile floors are cold!

Weekend Recap

We’ve had a busy few days. Thanksgiving, and then we got home late Friday, only to turn around early Saturday morning and leave again. Whew, no wonder I’m tired! 🙂

We went to Tim’s parents house on Saturday, so Tim could hunt. I went with his mom to do some errands and shopping, and also to visit her Aunt Irma in the hospital. She fractured her elbow and is having to stay in the hospital for nearly a month for therapy and for them to help her out. She was very chipper though, and glad to see us. It rained off and on all afternoon and was really a dreary day. Tim, Fred, Terry and Zack all went hunting. Zack had shot his first deer on Friday, and was ready to go again. No one got a deer on Saturday though. It was really warm, and even though it was raining, they didn’t see anything.

Sunday, I didn’t feel well. I can’t figure out if I’m just run down or I’ve picked some little bug up. I ache all over and have a nice little headache and tummy ache. I think the tummy ache is from overeating and not eating anything very healthy for the last few days (Saturday, we had pizza and fried chicken 🙁 ). We ran a few errands Sunday afternoon, and then watched the Saints game on ESPN Sunday night. They finally won a game, yeah! 🙂 Tim went up in the attic and got down my Snow Village for me, but so far, I just don’t feel like putting it up. After the village goes up, then it will be time for the tree, the outside lights and the rest of the decorations. Is it just me, or has the holiday spirit not hit anyone else yet? I don’t have a clue what to get anyone for Christmas this year (hint, hint, please send me some ideas or a list, please!) and I really, really, really don’t want to get out in those crowds and shop. Maybe I can have an online holiday this year!

I have a few things to blog about, but just don’t feel like blogging. 🙁 I don’t feel great and don’t feel like sitting at the computer. Maybe tomorrow.
