Season Finales

Well, this week is wrapping up all of our shows. A lot of them had their season finales last week, and the rest of them are this week. We watched the 2 hour finale of ’24’ on Monday night, and I’m left bitter, wondering why we have to wait till Jan 2006 to find out what happens to Jack, and if he’s coming back. We taped the season finale of 7th Heaven, but haven’t had time to watch it yet. Last night, it was the season finale of NCIS, and it was a jaw-dropper. They had previewed that one of the NCIS agents “would not survive”, but usually it’s just to lure you in, and we hoped it was a secondary character, and not one of the main agents. Nuh-huh, no way. They had a sniper shoot Kate between the eyes in the last couple of seconds of the show. I was rather upset. Then, we watched House, and while it was good, it wasn’t earth-shattering. I do love Sela Ward though, goes back to my days when I loved the show “Sisters”, and I’m happy to see that it looks like she will be back for at least a couple of episodes next season. Then, we watched our tape of American Idol, and both agreed that while we like both Bo and Carrie and would be happy for either of them to win, that a) neither one of them sang really well, nothing outstanding and b) the judges and probably America are predisposed to Bo to win, which is ok with us. However, being the “root for the underdog” kind of people we are, I felt compelled to vote for Carrie. I got in a few times, mostly after 10 PM.

Anyway, tonight is the last big hoorah. It’s the show I’ve been waiting for weeks for. The two hour finale of Lost. I absolutely cannot wait. I hope it’s all that they have built it up to be, and better, but I am afraid with all the hype, they can’t live up to it. Then, I think the Alias finale is on, and we will probably watch that. We’ll have to tape Idol and basically just watch the last 5 minutes to find out who won!

Battlestar

Wow! We watched the season finale of Battlestar Galactica last night, and all I can say is that we didn’t see that coming! Commander Adama was shot at the very end, and neither one of us saw that coming at all – I wonder now if Edward James Olmos is going to be back next season. We both really like this show. I used to watch the old one when it was out 20 years ago, and this one is SO much better, even Tim really likes it!

Needless to say, we hate waiting till July to find out what happens!

TV Tonight

Well, I can’t deny it. I’m ready for tonight’s tv lineup already. We had ’24’ last night, which was good, but I was missing out on American Idol. I guess I got used to it being on twice a week!

Tonight is a killer night for us, TV viewing wise. We have a total of 4 shows that we watch and tape. I am going to go check and see if any of them are reruns (NCIS or House, I know Idol and Race are new). I prefer to watch the live ones like Idol and Race and tape the others to watch later tonight or later on in the week. Tim has to work again tonight.

I was blog-surfing earlier and ran across a reference to the fact that Lost has been showing re-runs. I blogged about this very thing Here . Now, if what I read is true, we do NOT have to wait till the middle of April for a new episode. No sir. Next week is supposed to be a new one. Yee-hawww! It’s the Locke-centric one called “Deux Ex Machina” which means “God in the Machine”. We are supposed to learn how Locke was originally paralyzed. The site that I am getting this info from TV Tome also talks about a special in late April, and the fact that JJ Abrams says the show could last six years!

Mad about Lost

Well, darn, I am so disappointed that Lost is a rerun tonight. In fact, I am even more irritated to read that there aren’t going to be any new Lost episodes till the middle of April. What are JJ Abrams and crew trying to do, torture us? 🙂

I think Gail told me, and also I read earlier today while surfing, that the next new episode is April 13 and is a Locke-centric episode. It’s titled “Deux Ex Machina”, according to TV Tome Episode List . Translated, that means “God from the machine” and is also a chapter in the book “Watership Down” that Sawyer was reading, which he stole from Boone’s suitcase (according to this site). I’m further disappointed to see only 3 more new episodes listed after that.

April 20 – “Do No Harm” – Jack-centric episode
April 27 – “Greater Good” – Sayid-centric episode
May 4 – “Born to Run” – Kate-centric episode

Well, maybe there is going to be more before the season finale, since it’s rumored that Claire’s baby is going to be born in the season ender. Or maybe it will happen during Kate’s show? Darn. All I know is that I want to see more of this show, not less!

American Idol & Amazing Race

A good TV viewing night, all around. We watched the guys perform last night on AI, and I have to say, they are head and shoulders above the girls. I will really be glad to let the guys go head to head with the girls so more of these girls can go home. The guys are just so much better this season, it’s really hard now to get rid of any of them. There are still a lot of girls that need to go bye-bye.

Right now, my top two in each group are: Bo and Anwar for the guys, and Carrie and Nadia for the girls. We shall see.

I don’t seem to do very well on predictions. I’m going to have to go to the Hambones forum and revise my guess on Amazing Race. I don’t know how much longer the brothers will make it. Although I thought the same thing about Ron and Kelly last week, and they pulled it together and came in second this leg. I want to state on the record, that so far, through 2 episodes, I am not disliking Rob and Amber at all, like I thought that I would. I was fully prepared to root against them, and figured they would annoy me. Not so. I am rather quite enjoying them run the Amazing Race and I like that they seem happy together, seem to work well together, are making smart choices, and are overall just running a really good race. I may have to revise my guess and pick them! Not that they need the money, but so far, that’s my only beef with them.

We also watched House tonight, on Fox after Idol. Really good show. Medical mystery kind of stuff. I really enjoy it, in that we have finally found a show where Tim doesn’t have everything figured out in the first 10 minutes! With the medical aspect, he’s as clueless as I am! 🙂 Which makes it a total joy to watch!

Amazing Race

Well, Tim and I just finished watching the Amazing Race on CBS. Gail suggested a year or two ago that we should give this reality show a try, and she was right! There are so many reality shows out there that we don’t like, but this one and Survivor are two that we really do like.

Normally, I hate to see it end (and did again this time, because the team I wanted to win did not win!), but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. A new Amazing Race starts in 3 weeks! 🙂 Even better, a new Survivor starts next week.
