Ingredients:

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup butter -- softened
1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons instant coffee granules or espresso powder,
dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon grated orange peel (optional) -- I omitted
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup toffee bits -- I used the toffee bits that do NOT have
chocolate
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

  2. Grease 13x9 in baking dish. Combine flour, baking soda, salt & cinnamon in large bowl; set aside. Beat butter and sugars with mixer at medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Add coffee mixture, vanilla, and orange peel; beat well. Add the flour mixture and stir until combined.

  3. Stir in white chocolate chips and toffee. Spread batter into pan

  4. Bake 25-35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

  5. NOTES: Gail made these April 2005. She said that she read that the middle will look gooey and a bit undone, but really isn't. But she said that she baked them 30 minutes and thought they were a bit gooey, and might do them 35 minutes next time. Gail used instant coffee and not espresso powder, and also did not use the orange peel.
