Dodie's Chili Hits: 2
Dodie's Chili
Description:
This is my mom's chili, as close as I can get it. She gave me the recipe years ago, but her measurements are not specific. I use this as my regular chili, with modifications (see notes).

Ingredients:

1 lb. ground beef or sirloin
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 small can tomato sauce
1 can red kidney beans, with juice
20 ounces ketchup (about 1/2 to 3/4 of a 32 oz bottl
worcestershire sauce
garlic powder
chili powder
salt and pepper, to taste
pinch sugar
Tobasco, to taste
Directions:
  1. Brown meat and onion in Dutch oven. Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil, stirring often. Cook on low for about 1 hour.

  2. Stacy's Notes: This is from my mom, and so there are no specific measurements for most of the ingredients. This is my regular chili, although I make some changes to it these days. I often use ground turkey instead of red meat. Sometimes I put in two cans of beans. I usually use more tomato sauce and less ketchup. And these days I usually add part of a packaged mix of "hot chili mix" from the section where you get packets of taco seasoning, etc. This is a "to taste" recipe, so you just have to sort of taste it as you go.
