Serves: 0 Cuisine: Italian
Prep. Time:
Ingredients:

3/4 cup water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (I use olive oil)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar (I use honey)
1 tablespoon dry milk powder
about 1 T. Italian seasoning
2 1/4 cups bread flour (I use wheat & bread flour, in
notes)
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
Directions:
  1. Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Dough cycle; press Start.

  2. Remove dough from pan after rise cycle and use for your favorite pizza recipe. 400 degrees for 12-14 minutes

  3. Gail's notes: I've made this several times now and really like this crust. The Italian seasoning is my addition to this recipe. I use olive oil and honey in place of sugar. For the flour I use 1 c. bread flour and 1 1/4 c. whole wheat flour.

  4. And I use bread machine yeast. My machine has a pizza dough cycle that lasts about 55 minutes so that's what I use. After it cuts off I take it out and put on a floured surface for a few minutes to rest; then stretch and pat it out to fit my pizza pan. I usually prick it on the bottom with the tines of a fork. My pan happens to be about 14" in diameter.

  5. Just top with sauce, cheese and your favorite toppings. I've done ones with meat, mushrooms, peppers, etc. Chicken with cheese and toppings; bacon cheeseburger and even a California style pizza with bacon, avocado, onions etc. Be creative! (I grate my own mozzarella and probably use all of an 8 oz. pkg, yikes is that too much?!)

  6. More notes: I also go around the edges of the crust with olive oil before I put it in the oven. And, I've found out the hard way that my pan works better if I spray it a bit before patting the crust down onto it!

  7. Update: I've now bought a 16" pan to use and roll the dough out to fit it; I think the crust turns out better that way!

  8. More Notes - bake at 400 for approximately xx minutes :)
