Hot Ham and Cheese Sandwiches
Description:
Good football game day food. Combined several recipes I had seen online to come up with this set of ingredients, probably very versatile.

Ingredients:

1/2 stick butter or margarine -- or a little more, as
needed, softened
1/4 cup mustard -- see notes, used mix of yellow & dijon
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
dash worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds -- optional, I left out
1/2 pound ham -- sliced
swiss cheese slices -- or mozzarella
1 package Kings Hawaiian rolls

Directions:
  1. Soften butter and mix well with mustard, onion, Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds. Spread on both sides of buns. Fill generously with ham and Swiss cheese. Wrap in foil and place in 325 degree oven for 10-15 minutes.

  2. Stacy's Notes: Made Oct 2009, for a football game. I had 3 different recipes, and tried to combine the best of them, based on what ingredients I had. I used 1 package of King's Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half through the middle. I softened 1/2 a stick of light butter, but next time, might need another tablespoon. The recipes had very different amounts of mustard, one used yellow, one dijon, so I used a combination of both. I used a heaping tablespoon of regular yellow mustard, then finished off the 1/4 cup measure with dijon mustard. I also added a squirt of mayo to the mixture to make it creamier. I didn't used poppy seeds, and used dried minced onion. I added a splash or two of Worcestershire (one recipe called for and one did not). I used regular sliced ham, and swiss cheese slices. Add butter mixture to each side of rolls, layer ham and cheese, close rolls back together, wrap in foil and place on cookie sheet. I baked in my oven for about 10 minutes at 325, but they weren't very hot. Next time, try them for about 15 minutes or so. Good, but might want to have something like soup to go with them next time :)
