Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups water
2 tablespoons margarine
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Vital Wheat Gluten (see notes)
Directions:
  1. Add ingredients to bread machine pan in order recommended by your manufacturer. Use regular light setting.

  2. Stacy's Notes - Made July 2007 using the dough cycle on my bread machine. The first time I made this bread, I used 3 cups white bread flour, 2 tablespoons light stick butter, and everything else the same. I also added 2 teaspoons of vital wheat gluten. Used the dough cycle, took dough out and shaped it, put in loaf pan, then let rise again. Baked at 350ยบ for about 30 minutes.

  3. The second time I made this bread, I wanted to try some whole wheat flour. I used a ratio of 2 to 1 (2 cups white bread flour and 1 cup whole wheat flour). I added more vital wheat gluten (3 teaspoons) since I have more trouble getting wheat bread to rise. Didnt' rise as much, but it is still good this way, and maybe a tad bit healthier!

  4. Gail's Notes: I've always used olive oil instead of margarine, same amount, and it turns out fine for me. And I use part white bread flour and part whole wheat flour, mine still rose nicely. (2 c. bread and 1 c. whole wheat I think but I may try it using half white and half wheat) I do use vital wheat gluten and I've used splenda brown sugar instead of regular brown sugar. Bread machine, regular setting.

  5. I love the way this bread turns out!
