Ingredients:
1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 egg
3 1/4 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon instant yeast
Directions:
Place all ingredients in your bread machine. Select dough. Allow to run cycle.
Dump out onto lightly floured surface. Divide into 8 pieces. With each piece, slap into a bun shape. Usually four or five slaps will do it. Place on greased cookie sheets or your bun pans, cover; rise about 30 to 40 minutes.
Bake in preheated 375°F oven for 12 to 15 minutes till golden. Cool on wire racks.
Cook's Notes: I like to add a teaspoon of onion powder and about 1/2 teaspoon dried onion to the dough in the bread machine. It makes a light onion-y flavor that is wonderful!
Stacy's Notes - I made these Oct 2004 - they were good! I didn't add the dried onion or onion powder, just made them as is. I put the mixture in my bread machine on the dough cycle, then took out, floured, rolled and cut into 8 pieces. My 8 buns didn't want to rise in 30-40 minutes, so I warmed the oven to 250º, then turned it off, put in dough and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then I took them out, and later baked them for 12 minutes. We had these with French Dip. I think I prefer my regular ABM Wheat Buns but these were really good too! (Can use this recipe if I don't have bread flour or wheat flour, always have these ingredients on hand). :)
