A great staple to have in your kitchen, a homemade version of Ranch Seasoning Mix (think Hidden Valley Ranch dry seasoning pack or canister). Store this in your refrigerator, and mix up Ranch Dressing or a dip for veggies at any time!
I talked about this seasoning mix and showed a snippet of making up a batch at the end of this video (check around the 10 min 30 second mark):
Servings |
|
- 1 teaspoon dried chives
- 1 1/2 teaspoon dried dill
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion flakes, dried or dried minced onion
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley or less to taste (I use a bit less)
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup dried buttermilk powder I use Saco brand
Ingredients

- Mix all ingredients and store in the refrigerator.
- NOTE: 3 Tablespoons of this mix = 1 packet of the store-bought seasoning mix
- To Make Ranch Dressing: Combine 1 Tbsp. seasoning mix with 1/3 cup mayo and 1/3 cup milk, and whisk to combine. You can also substitute Greek yogurt for the mayo.
Stacy's Notes: I usually double this and definitely have to store in the fridge (along with the buttermilk powder). I make dressing with this, using mayo and milk (have not tried the Greek yogurt).
Stacy's Notes #2 - For a Mexican ranch, I mix up the base and then add lime and cumin. Works great on a salad as a side with enchiladas, tostados, tacos, fajitas, etc.
Stacy's Notes #3 - when I started making yogurt in my Instant Pot, I looked for uses for the whey. I found that mixing 1 Tablespoon of the Ranch mix with 1/3 cup olive oil or greek yogurt mayo, along with 1/3 cup of whey produced a wonderful, tangy Ranch dressing!
