Air Fryer Times and Temps

As much for my reference as anything else, today I am sharing some times and temps that we have been using in our new Kalorik 3.2 quart Air Fryer. Ours is a small basket style, so I don’t know if the times and temperatures would change if you have a larger basket, or the oven style. I just know that when I try something in ours, I need to write it down for the next time, because I can’t seem to remember each item and how long we cooked it, LOL!

I hope this helps someone else!  If you have any questions, problems, or input, please leave a comment and let us know!

Items / Temperatures and Times in our small air fryer:

Store Bought Items:

  • French Fries – 400 for 13-18 minutes (18-20 for thicker steak cut fries, shorter time for thinner fries). A bag of Kroger waffle fries (big 5.8 quart AF), 10 minutes at 360 and 4 minutes at 400 degrees.  Big Bag of Sam’s Club Waffle fries – 360 for 9-10 minutes, 400 for 1-3 minutes to crisp and brown more (Tim says I have been overcooking these lately, so use the lower times, maybe 10 minutes total).
  • Breaded Mozzarella Sticks – 360 degrees for 6-7 minutes (we are doing ours at 7 lately)
  • Can of 5 Biscuits – 330 degrees for 6 minutes
  • Can of Crescent Rolls – preheat air fryer, spray basket well, cook at 350 for 6 minutes
  • Hot Dogs – 330 degrees for 6 minutes
  • Crab Rangoon – 350 degrees for the first 6 minutes (flipped at 3 minutes), then bumped it up to 370 and cooked 3 more minutes
  • Egg Rolls – I put these in the microwave first since they were frozen and microwaved about 90 seconds. Then sprayed with my Misto (olive oil) and into the Air Fryer for 5 minutes at 400, then turned and lowered it to 380 for the last 4 minutes (Kahiki Teriyaki Steak Egg Rolls). For the boxed mini chicken PF Chang’s ones from Sam’s, I preheated my 5.8 quart air fryer for 3 minutes at 360 degrees. Then, I microwaved some frozen egg rolls for 90 seconds, then cooked at 380 for 8 minutes, flipping at 4 minutes (spraying with Misto olive oil). See Section below for instructions on cooking and reheating homemade egg rolls 🙂  For the boxed Tai Pei brand (from Walmart), I usually microwave 90 seconds to start thawing, then cook at 360 for about 8 minutes, spraying first, flipping at 4 minutes and spraying again (keep an eye on them, they may not take 8 minutes)
  • Frozen Onion Rings – cooked the small Kroger brand ones for 7 minutes at 400 degrees.  NOTE:  Cooked Alexia brand at the same temp and time and they were a bit overcooked (granted, this was in the bigger 5 quart air fryer. So for next time with the Alexia brand, either lower the temperature or cook them a shorter amount of time, maybe check at 5 minutes.
  • Red Robin Brand Thick Cut Onion Rings – these in a bag from Walmart needed about 10 minutes at 370 in our air fryer.
  • Birds Eye Frozen Crispy (Breaded) Green Beans – 400 degrees for about 8-10 minutes, tossing at the half way point
  • MorningStar Frozen Chicken Patties – 350 degrees for 12-13 minutes
  • Frozen Chicken Wings – seasoned with dry seasonings, sprayed with Misto (olive oil) and cooked for 20 minutes at 400 degrees (flipping at 10 minutes)
  • Canned Cinnamon Rolls – a large can didn’t quite fit in my 3 quart. I tried to squeeze most of them in, but crowded them too much. I cooked them at 330 degrees for 7 minutes, flipping (hard to do with them wedged in) at around 3-4 minutes.  Next time, split them in two batches, cook 330 degrees for 6-7 minutes, take out and ice. Much quicker, they were done before the big oven would have preheated!
  • Frozen Mary B biscuits – spray basket, cook at 330 degrees for approximately 14 minutes, brush tops with butter
  • Pillsbury Frozen Biscuits (big bag from Sam’s Club) – did not preheat 5 quart air fryer, just sprayed the basket with olive oil spray.  Cooked at 330 degrees for about 17 minutes, no flipping (but Tim usually rotates about half way through).
  • Package of Bisquick Cheese Garlic Biscuits – mix up dough according to package directions. Spray a piece of foil with olive oil cooking spray.  Plop 4 large biscuits on the sprayed piece of foil and carefully move foil with biscuits into preheated basket of air fryer. Cook at 340 degrees for about 8 minutes
  • Hard Shell Tacos – Tim heated 2 shells at 310 degrees for 3 minutes
  • Bacon Twists – twist 5 pieces of bacon and put in large basket of air fryer. Cook at 400 degrees about 6-7 minutes, flip and cook a few more minutes (we did 9 or 10 minutes in our air fryer). To cook a second batch, I took the liner basket out, took a wad of paper towels and a pair of tongs and sopped up all the grease from the outer basket. Then re-inserted cooking basket and another 5 pieces of twisted bacon to do a second batch of 5 pieces.
  • Van’s Frozen Waffles –  360 degrees for 5 minutes (flipped at 3)
  • Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – from a tub (purchased at Walmart or Sam’s Club). Put a piece of parchment paper in the bottom of the basket. Add rounded portions of chocolate chip cookie dough. Cook at 330 degrees for about 10 minutes.  Need to leave in place for at least 5-10 minutes to let cool (until they are firm enough to remove with a spatula).
  • Members Mark Breaded Chicken Strips (bag of frozen ones from Sam’s Club) – cooked at 370 for about 12-14 minutes, flipping half way (and spraying both sides with olive oil spray).
  • Members Mark Breaded Frozen Jumbo Butterfly Shrimp – cooked in my air fryer at 400 for about 13-14 minutes, flipping & spraying half way through.  So good!
  • Members Mark Spicy Chicken Fillets – cooked in my air fryer at 370 degrees in about 14 minutes, flipped (and sprayed again) at the 10 minute mark. A new favorite!
  • Members Mark Beer Battered Cod Fillets – cooked in my air fryer at 360 degrees in about 12 minutes (flipped at the half way point and sprayed both sides)
  • Members Mark Orange Tempura Chicken – cooked in my air fryer at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes (flip at the half way point and spray). I often add frozen, packaged Crab Rangoon (also purchased in a big box from Sam’s Club) for the last 6 minutes or so.
  • Hormel Marinated Pork Tenderloin – purchased a lemon pepper marinated tenderloin (Hormel brand, 18.4 oz) and put in my air fryer. Preheated, sprayed pan well (and it still stuck at the half way point when I went to flip it), and cooked at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. I used an Instant Read thermometer to make sure it had reached 145-150 degrees. Then I took it out and let it rest on my cutting board for another 3-5 minutes (and I imagine it had a little more carryover cooking).  It had the slightest bit of pink in it, but we are fine with that and pork. Delicious, and ready much quicker than preheating my big oven and then cooking for the recommended time of 45 minutes on the package directions.
  • Totinos Small Party Size individual pizzas – spray basket extremely well so it won’t stick. We cooked in our air fryer for 12 minutes at 400 degrees and then let it sit 2-3 minutes to cool off before removing and cutting.  Simple and easy!

Home Cooked Items:

  • One Grilled Chicken Breast (thin) – 360 degrees for 10 minutes (test for doneness with thermometer, should be at least 165 degrees)
  • Panko Breaded Chicken Tenders – coat tenders in traditional coating (I use FEB – seasoned flour, egg wash and bread crumbs, I mix all purpose and rice flour with seasonings, beaten egg and then for the breading I mix panko bread crumbs with seasoning and parmesan cheese). I think it helps to refrigerate the breaded/coated items, so I refrigerated for about 30 minutes. Then spray each tender with Misto (olive oil), cook at 360 degrees for 9 minutes on the first side, then 3 minutes on the second side, for a total of 12 minutes in my air fryer.
  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs – took out a package of 4 thighs and defrosted. Spritzed with olive oil and sprinkled on dry seasonings (Mrs Dash garlic herb, salt, pepper and some Mrs Dash Chicken seasoning). Placed in the oiled air fryer basket and set for 360 degrees, 18 minutes. Flipped at about 8-9 minutes and checked them at 15 or 16 and they were already done (in fact, they registered well past 165).  Next time try cooking for about 14-15 and check at 12-13 minutes. They are so thin, they cook very fast!  Delicious, we topped with BBQ sauce for Tim and wing sauce for me.
  • Sweet Potato Chunks – I usually cook 2 sweet potatoes for us. Peel and cut into chunks, toss with olive oil and seasonings. Spray basket and cook for 16 minutes at 400 degrees (shaking the basket at half way). If I can stick a fork in them after 16 minutes, they are done, or if the potatoes are bigger or I do more than 2, they go back a little longer.
  • Baked Potatoes – scrub well, poke holes with a fork, rub with olive oil and coat with sea salt. Cook in the basket at 390 degrees for 40 minutes, turning half way.  Obviously, all potatoes are different sizes, so I would start checking at 30 minutes, may take as long as 45-60 depending on the size of your potatoes. Probably as long as the oven, but the air fryer doesn’t seem to heat up my kitchen nearly as much!
  • Thick Cut Potato Logs/Wedges – cut into thick wedges and soaked in water for 30 minutes. Drained and towel dried. Seasoned with olive oil, s&p and Cajun seasoning.  20 minutes at 400, shaking at the half way point.  They were not quite as brown and crispy as I wanted, so I put them back for 3-4 more minutes.
  • Air Fryer Oreos – freeze Oreos (next time, I would use Double Stuffed). Cut out 11 pieces of dough from a roll of crescent rolls. Roll each Oreo in a square of dough, then cook for 8 minutes (flipping at 4) at 350 degrees. Coat in powdered sugar when hot out of the air fryer.
  • Pepperoni Crescents – roll up a half stick of string cheese or some white cheese with a couple of pepperonis inside a crescent roll triangle. Roll up and put in air fryer at 350 for 7 minutes or until golden
  • Frickles – take egg roll wrappers and spread with cream cheese. Lay on black forest ham and put a pickle spear in the middle, roll up egg roll style. Spray basket liner and each Frickle with Misto (olive oil spray) and cook at 390 for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.  Serve with marinara or salsa for dipping.
  • Cod Fillets – bread frozen (but thawed out!) cod fillets in FEB.  Flour is a mixture of all purpose and rice flour, with Old Bay seasoning. E is an egg wash. B is a panko breading mixed with Old Bay seasoning.  Dip fillets in each and place in refrigerator for a minimum of 30 minutes to firm breading on fillets.  Cook in basket air fryer at 380 degrees for 12 minutes, flipping at 6.  I tested the cod with an instant read thermometer,  to make sure it came to 165 degrees.
  • Homemade Waffles – Tim reheated some homemade waffles we made in the Air Fryer, at 400 degrees for 3-4 minutes. Nice and crispy!
  • Zucchini Rounds – sliced fresh zucchini into coins, breaded in FEB (seasoned flour, egg wash, panko bread crumbs mixed with seasonings and parmesan cheese). Sprayed the basket well and both sides of the zucchini rounds.  400 degrees for 7 minutes, flip and spray other side, and 7 more minutes. These were a wee bit overdone the first time I tried them, so cut them down to 6 minutes. Also, need to get the batter to adhere more, it stuck and partially came off on the first try. Still very tasty!
  • Broccoli Florets – cut up and sprayed with olive oil spray, some salt and pepper and a dash of 21 Seasoning Salute.  Preheated large AF to 360, then 4 minutes per side, 8 or 9 total if you want it a bit crispier (Tim likes it at 9)
  • Fresh Asparagus – cut or snap off woody stems of fresh asparagus.  Spray or toss in olive oil, then salt and pepper. Spray basket well in air fryer.  Cook at 400 degrees for about 8-9 minutes, shaking and tossing around 5 minutes (may take longer if your spears are thicker, or less time if they are pencil thin, just keep checking).
  • Breaded Cauliflower Bites – mix one beaten egg with some melted butter.  Toss the cauliflower florets in the egg mixture and drain if needed. Then toss in Italian bread crumbs, try to coat as much as possible. Spray with olive oil spray and place in basket.  Cook at 350 degrees until desired doneness (checked mine at 5 minutes and flipped, then again at 10 minutes, and flipped and sprayed again, and cooked 3 more minutes). Length of time and amounts depend on how much cauliflower you use 🙂
  • 2 Bone-In Pork Chops – I preheated the large 5.8 quart air fryer to 360 degrees for 3 minutes. I took 2 thick chops and seasoned with some salt and some Trader Joe’s 21 Seasoning Salute, then spritzed with olive oil (using the Misto). Cooked at 380 degrees for 18 minutes, flipping after 10. Checked with an instant read thermometer (pork should reach 145-150 for medium, more if you like them well done, to 160-165 degrees).
  • 2 Boneless Pork Chops – preheated my air fryer, sprayed the basket really well, and then cooked on 380 degrees for about 14 minutes, flipping after about 6-8, and testing with my Instant Read thermometer.  Length of time to cook will depend on the thickness of the pork chops.  We like ours in the 145-150 range (still a bit of pink inside).
  • Chicken Fajitas – I cut up 2 onions & 2 bell peppers into strips and seasoned with s&p and fajita seasoning. Cut up 2 chicken breasts into strips and then in halves and seasoned the same way. Preheated large 5.8 quart AF for 3 minutes at 360. Sprayed basket with olive oil spray. Cooked for 8 minutes and opened to toss everything around with tongs (added more seasonings here, including some cumin).  Cooked another 8 minutes for 16 total, but checked with instant read thermometer and chicken was not quite to 165 degrees, so cooked 4 minutes longer.  So, 20 minutes at 360 for the amount I had in the one basket.
  • Homemade Banana Bread in metal Mini Pans – I cooked 2 metal mini pans of my homemade banana bread for 20 minutes at 330 degrees.  Perfect, and tasted just like oven baked. Can only fit 2 mini loaf pans at a time in my AF though, but much quicker than an hour in the oven!
  • Homemade Egg Rolls – I sauteed the filling first: browned 1/2 pound ground turkey, added onion, garlic, ginger, & white pepper, then added 1/2 bag cole slaw mix, diced carrots & onions to wilt. Tasted & adjusted and I added more jarred minced garlic, squeeze minced ginger, lots of liquid aminos or you can use soy sauce, and white & black pepper.  Take mixture off the heat, then add sesame oil. Let the filling cool, then wrap in egg roll wrappers (put diamond shape with one point pointed towards your belly, roll up side of the middle first, then roll up from bottom closest to you; I used egg wash on top 2 corners).  Spritz rolled egg rolls well with olive oil spray, then cook at 360 for 10 minutes, flipping at 5 minutes (these may take up to 12). Freeze any leftover for another night.  NOTE:  When I take these homemade egg rolls out of the freezer, I thaw in the microwave for about 90 seconds before putting in the air fryer to finish warming up and crisp up the outsides. I did some at 360 for 8 minutes but that was too long, so next time try about 5-6 minutes (flipping and spraying half way).
  • Pizza Egg Rolls – fill egg roll wrappers with pepperoni and string cheese (and optionally, you can add a small dab of pizza sauce). Fold up, brushing egg wash on all 4 sides of egg roll wrapper. Spray basket well, and cook at 350 degrees in basket air fryer, being sure to spray both sides of wrapper well. Cook 5 minutes on the first side, flip (spray again) and cook 3-4 minutes on the second side, until egg rolls are golden brown.
  • Frito Pie – Used my round corningware dish and sprayed well. Layered Fritos, chili (homemade or canned), diced onions and shredded cheese in a couple of layers (until dish was full). Cooked in preheated air fryer at 360 for 5 minutes.
  • Jiffy Corn Muffins – mixed up a box of Jiffy cornbread mix according to package directions. Used my silicone muffin cups and put in my pre-heated air fryer for 12 minutes at 370 degrees. They come out a bit misshapen (we think because of the fan and the nature of convection cooking), but they taste great and we are ok with the shape not being perfect!
  • Stuffed Mushrooms – took baby bella mushrooms and cleaned out caps. Mixed softened cream cheese with sausage crumbles, onion and garlic powder, salt and pepper, a dash of Trader Joe’s Mushroom Umami seasoning and a dash of Worcestershire. Filled caps.  Put a piece of foil in the basket of my air fryer (I poked several holes in the foil using a pair of scissors), and sprayed foil well. Placed stuffed mushroom caps on the foil and cooked at 360 degrees for 8 minutes.  Turned them half way through for more even browning. Delicious!
  • Marinated Tofu Cubes – pressed a block of extra-firm tofu until it was dry, then cut into cubes. Mixed up a marinade of hoisin, liquid aminos or soy, seasonings such as garlic, ginger, etc, some rice wine vinegar and a dash of sesame oil. Also added some toasted sesame seeds. Marinated cubes at least 30 minutes, probably closer to 1-2 hours. Tried first to pan fry in a skillet and realized I could cook more in my air fryer. Cooked at 360 until brown and crispy, about 15-17 minutes.
  • Taco Stuffed Zucchini Boats – used a metal tray that Tim had for his smoker. Cut 2 medium zucchini in half and hollowed out to make a boat (only 3 pieces fit in the pan, so I had to cook in 2 batches).  Browned 1/2 lb ground turkey on the stove, added Homemade Taco Seasoning, chili powder, cumin, S&P (also added a bit of the chopped zucchini leftover from hollowing out the boats).  Added salsa to taste in meat mixture. Put a thin layer of salsa in the bottom of the sprayed pan. Filled boats and topped with 2 kinds of cheese, what I had open (Colby Jack and Monterey Jack). Cooked at 370 degrees for 16-18 minutes (until soft with a fork), but covered after about 6-7 minutes (NOTE: had to weight the foil down with criss-crossed forks so it wouldn’t fly up into the heating element!). So good, a definite keeper!
  • Air Fryer “Fried” Dill Pickle Chips – got the pickle slices as dry as I could. Dipped in seasoned flour, beaten egg (mixed with pickle juice rather than water) and seasoned panko.  Sprayed basket well and sprayed each dill pickle chip.  Cooked at 400 for 8 minutes, flipping after 4.  (Stacy’s Note: Tim loved them but I thought the breading was too thick, so next time, maybe try using some finer bread crumbs mixed with the panko). Made some homemade ranch for dipping.  A keeper!
  • Air Fryer Copycat Cheese Danish – used a recipe from the website forktospoon.com (which is 1 can crescent rolls, 1 8 oz pkg cream cheese softened, 1 t vanilla and 1/2 cup sugar). Mixed up filling and spread between 4 crescent rolls (take 2 triangles and put together and pinch seams to seal).  Folded up ends into a triangle and then folded in each long side over the filling. Tried using original recipes time/temp but that didn’t work in my AF.  What worked for me was 350 for 6 minutes. I cooked 2 at a time (so 2 batches) in an aluminum disposable pan, so no cleanup!
  • Homemade Biscuits – Tim made homemade biscuits using flour, baking powder, salt, Crisco (subbed for the butter) and buttermilk (subbed for the milk), using the Paula Deen recipe as a guideline. He got 4 large biscuits and put on a greased (Crisco) piece of foil. Cooked at 340 for 15 minutes, but he said cook for 17 minutes at 340.
  • Garlic Butter Shrimp – defrosted 1 bag of large gulf shrimp (peeled and deveined). Put a half a stick of butter, some minced garlic, a dash of red chili flakes and lemon juice in a metal disposable pan and put in the air fryer while it was preheating, to melt.  Added shrimp and cooked at 390 for 7 minutes.
  • Mini Peach Cobblers – followed a recipe from the website joyousapron.com (new to me website, had never heard of it, but you gotta love Google!). Cut up 2 fresh peaches and sugared with 2 tablespoons sugar. Melted 1 tablespoon each butter in 2 small 6 oz ramekins in the microwave. Mixed up dry ingredients (1/4 cup all purpose flour, 2 T sugar, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, pinch kosher salt; mixed well. Made a well in the center and added wet ingredients (1/8 cup milk or 2 Tablespoons, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract), and then I also added a dash of cinnamon.  In ramekin, on top of melted butter, layered peaches and then spread out cobbler mixture. Cooked in *my* basket air fryer at 320 degrees for about 18 minutes (at about 16-17 minutes, sprinkled with some turbinado sugar on top).  Delicious with a tiny scoop of ice cream!
  • Boneless Skinless Salmon Fillets – I thawed out 2 thin salmon fillets from a big bag from Sam’s Club. I did use a disposable aluminum pan, but only because I wanted to do one plain (with olive oil, salt and pepper) and on the other fillet I used a sauce of brown sugar, dijon mustard, soy sauce and rice wine vinegar. Cooked them in the sprayed pan at 400 for about 11 minutes total, flipping after 8-9 minutes. I cooked until the fillets registered 145 with my instant read thermometer. Next time, I will try just plain fillets directly in the basket, and I imagine they will be done in 9-10 minutes at 400, but will always check with the thermometer. Delicious!
