hambones.org: Hambones Website News Search on This Topic:    [ Go to Home | Select a New Topic ] Looking Better Around Here shammons writes "I don't imagine any of you notice, but the Hambones.org website is looking a lot better these days! We've been really doing a lot of stuff behind the scenes to improve the site and add more capacity to it. Before we left on vacation, Tim upgraded the software on the site to a new version. After we got home, we got more memory and put in the backup box (where we backup all the data every night, so hopefully we won't lose anything!). We added a new hard drive (250 gig) to the main Hambones site, so there's lots of room now for more pictures, recipes, message boards, blogs, etc. Also, we ordered a bigger hard drive for the backup box and it should be delivered this week. We also purchased a second UPS unit (uninterruptible power source) and have installed it. The good news is that most of the work that requires us to take the Hambones server down and the site offline is now complete. The work on the backup box can be done without any interruption in service to the Hambones.org website. Please let us know of any updates or enhancements to the site that you would like to see. We're open to suggestions for new things, and have a couple more ideas in the works for future enhancements. The good news is, now we have enough hard drive space for everything! Recently, I have added some of Grayson and Ava Clair, and Amanda has also sent a few of Ethan and Abby. Gail sent me some today from their ski trip last week with the youth from their church, and I just added a new album for those under the Misc Photos section. For anyone new to the site, you need to be a Registered User to take advantage of most of the site's features (including viewing photos, submitting news, and posting in the forums). There are several new pictures in the Photo Gallery section, and we've added several new recipes and book and movie reviews to the Reviews section. We have a new poll (survey) to vote in on the front page every few days. You can click on the Surveys buttton on the Main Menu to go back and vote in previous polls, as well. Probably the most popular feature at the moment is our Trivia Forum - we play trivia every Monday-Friday. There are usually 10 questions posted (7 from various categories and 3 sports questions). You can answer any or all of the questions. Answers are posted the next weekday morning, or on Monday for Friday's questions. Come play trivia with us if you have a chance! Also new to the site is Stacy's Blog. In case you aren't familiar with the term blog, it stands for "web-log" and it's sort of like an online diary. I update this daily, for the most part. Here you'll find tidbits from our day, what we are doing, places we go, people we see, books I'm reading, chatter about movies and TV shows we watch, etc. I also post quizzes, polls, questions, and "memes", and encourage readers to give their answers in the form of a comment. Come check it out if you haven't already. We're continuing to try to add to the site and enhance things that are already here.
