Hambones Home from Vacation
Posted on Thursday, October 21 @ 09:06:33 UTC by hambone

Hammons Family news shammons writes "Just wanted to let everyone know that we are home from our vacation, safe and sound. We had a wonderful time and really hated to come back.

We left Friday morning (10/15) and drove to Sevierville and spent the night. We hit the outlets on Saturday and did a lot of shopping. We went to check in our cabin Saturday afternoon late and found that our cabin (which we knew was very new and hardly anyone had stayed in it) was not quite ready. The dishwasher was missing part of the panel, there were buckets of plaster, mini-blind boxes, pieces of furniture and other things laying around; there was no phone; neither TV worked (one was no where near a power source and the other had power but no channels or cable), and the gas grill wouldn't work. Our 3 criteria in getting a cabin was to get one with TV, a grill and a hot tub. This one's hot tub worked, but we struck out on the other two! After talking to the nice folks at the cabin rental place, they finally agreed to move us. Since it was the weekend and busy season, they were completely full and had no 1 or 2 bedroom cabins available. So, they kindly upgraded us to a huge 3 bedroom cabin named "Almost Heaven", where we spent our vacation. This place was bigger than our own home! It was great, and was someone's personal home, with pictures of their kids in the two living areas and bedrooms. We really enjoyed staying here!

Anyway, we grilled out all 3 nights and spent the other days in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, hiking, exploring and driving around. We had a great time, and got a few good pictures! I took TONS of pictures of foliage, leaves, trees, waterfalls and other scenic pictures, and we even got a couple of "people pics" too! Look for them to be posted in the next day or so under the Photo Gallery - on the second page under the Vacations album. :)

Update - OK, the pictures have been uploaded to the site. As usual, there are a lot of them (you know me, I love to take pictures!). If you don't want to wade through them all, here's a sort of breakdown of what's on each page. Page 1 is 2 pictures of Stacy opening a present before we left, traffic driving to Gatlinburg and Cades Cove. Page 2 is our hike to Abrams Falls (some scenic, some people pics). Page 3 is Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail and Grotto Falls, also some scenic water pictures. Page 4 is us at Clingmans Dome, then the beginning of pictures we took of our huge cabin. Page 6 is more cabin pics. Enjoy!"
