Book - Vienna Prelude by Bodie Thoene

I checked out the first book in the Zion Covenant series by Bodie Thoene from my local library, based on a recommendation by Gail. She has read these books, and also the Zion Chronicles books, and recommended them to me. They are older books, written 10 or 15 years ago or more, but they are good books, so they stand the test of time.

This series covers a group of people, family and friends, in Germany and Austria before the start of WWII. Our main heroine in "Vienna Prelude" is Elisa - a young Jewish girl, of prominent heritage, who is a member of the symphony in Vienna. The book tells a story in itself (of Elisa, her family, friends Leah, Rudy and Shimon and American journalist John Murphy who befriends Elisa and her father Theo, as Theo is dragged off a train by the Gestapo), as well as sets the stage for the remaining books.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and intend to read all of the ones in this series. I won't do individual reviews on each book, but will let this review cover the entire series. Good books, two thumbs up :)
