Booking Through Thursday

Booking Through Thursday Meme

Today’s question is suggested by Carrie.

What’s the most desperate thing you’ve read because it was the only available reading material?
If it was longer than a cereal box or an advertisement, did it turn out to be worth your while?

Gosh, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten desperate for something to read. I have a pretty good library branch not a mile from my house, so during their open hours, that is an option. The biggest factor is that I now keep a fairly decent TBR pile here at my house. I don’t like ending a book at 10:30 PM and not having another one lined up to read, you know?! Also, I subscribe to several magazines, and I have a pretty significant stack of those here at the ready, for me to read. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever run out of anything to read or not had something available.

Now, I have been known to read a cereal box or two in my time, though 🙂 Daily paper too, and most anything else I can get my hands on. But, these days, I try to always have a book with me, or something to read. Especially if I know I’m going to be somewhere that I might need to wait. I try to always be prepared 🙂

Happy Reading!

  1. Marianne Said,

Being stranded somewhere without reading material is the worst! Sounds like you’re a wise woman who brings a book with her wherever she goes… good for you!

    Mine’s up here.

  2. CeeCee Said,

A wise woman indeed. I just need a larger purse so I can be wise too. Hehe. I’d be sick if I was caught stranded without reading material.

  3. JennaG Said,

I am desperate if I’m reading People, or some other celebrity thing. I also read Albert Einstein and the Theory of Relativity (jr high version) once. It’s ever worth while to me to read the celebrity junk, but I did learn a lot about ole Al.

  4. JennaG Said,

oops–that’s supposed to be ‘never worth while’, not ever.

  5. Cam Said,

I get desperate at times and have resorted to reading instructions on cans of cleaner, etc. Usually, that’s in the bathroom.
Or, I’ll often stop for lunch or a snack at a restaurant whenever I’m out shopping alone. Since I didn’t plan to be stopping, I don’t have any reading material, so I’ll sit there and read the little advertising cards on the table…I know all about all the deserts and mixed drinks at O’Charley’s, for example! 😛

  6. Rowena Said,

You’re just like me then, I like to have plenty of options when I finish a book so now I keep a TBR pile at home and I won’t have to buy a book for a whole year if I didn’t want to..too bad I always want new books.

    *sigh*

I haven’t been desperate to read anything in quite a while but I do remember times when I was…and they were always when I was at the doctor’s office.

    Happy BTT!

  7. Southern Girl Said,

I tihnk it’s pretty desperate to read that insert in the box of tampons ’cause you forgot to bring a magazine with you to the bathroom. Not that I’ve ever resorted to that or anything…. 😉

Ah ha! I see Cam understands what I’m talking about! heeee!

  8. Melody Said,

Hi Stacy, I agree it’s always good to have a book handy!
    Happy BTT!

  9. Susanne Said,

I don’t think I’ve ever come across that either.
