I’ve seen this on a few blogs so I’m totally into swiping/stealing borrowing today!
It’s called the “Have you ever” meme… I’m taking part of it to do now, just to be different I’m giving added info on my answers although it could be more than you wanted to know. But it might bring something to mind that I can save for later.

Have you ever:
1. Gone on a blind date… well right off the bat you expect me to remember something from my past! The world of dating was a really long time ago for me. 😆 But I think when I was in junior college some friends set me up on a date with one of their friends. If I remember correctly his name was Tra and my grandmother had the most fun singing out his name, tra-la-la-la-la!
2. Skipped School… the very idea! I was a model student and would never do something like that; at least I don’t think I’ve ever skipped school. Now when I was in elementary school (or was it later?) I can remember not wanting to go for some reason and trying to do something that would make it seem I was sick…..running the thermometer under hot water (smart), hanging my head over the bed so my face would look all flushed or complaining of a headache (which wasn’t such a stretch because I’ve always had bad headaches). But those other things, I’m sure some evil type twin made me do those things. 😉

and never to part

As I was driving into Houston yesterday my son called to give me directions to the hospital. I asked him if Grayson and Ava Clair had seen the baby and what they thought about him. He told me they had come to the hospital on Saturday to see him and just loved him, they wanted to hold him and were so excited over him! Toward the end of the conversation Trent said Grayson had turned and asked them, “can we keep him forever!” I thought that was so sweet and cute. It also makes me wonder what goes on in the heads of little children, and what they must think about the things that change their little world. I visited at the hospital for a bit, didn’t get too many pictures yet but I’m sure I’ll have more chances this week! We brought Grayson and Ava Clair home and I’ve been keeping them while mom & dad stayed at the hospital; they’ll come home today with baby Henry and hopefully the kids will like him for a long time to come!

Oh my… baby Henry decided to be born during the night two weeks early! That was about a week before they would have induced but he’s here and they are all doing good from what I can tell on the phone. I haven’t seen him yet, nor any pictures. Right now he’s sleeping a lot, and that can be a good thing for everyone. Looking forward to holding him and kissing him! My son and dil want me to come stay for a while to help them with the little ones and help around the house so that will be a treat for me! I hope to get some pictures soon when I get there and maybe I can share some later. I only got part of my sewing done so I’m taking my machine along to Texas with me. It’s turned out to be a fun weekend for us!
Hope yours is fabulous too. 😆

I was reminded of this song when I watched Idol the other night and that is probably my favorite version of it. It was used on a tv show a few years ago, pretend points if you remember which one! (doctor show is my hint)
The song really has nothing to do with the random things I might say but it’s now running rampant through my head so I thought I’d see if I could transfer it to yours!
1. Some sickness stuff hit me out of the blue the other night… felt like sinus/cold stuff for most of the day but by late afternoon I was knocked down with a headache that would not go away. I slept for about 12 hours and then it seemed to be gone. The sinusy stuff is still with me…. I felt kind of like I was in a fog yesterday but at least I could get up and move around with no headache. I think maybe a migraine?
2. The new baby is coming soon! My DIL will be induced in about a week or so if baby hasn’t made his appearance. I need to work on some burp cloths for her plus for 2 other people I know with babies coming soon after. Those need to be done if I’m going to go visit in TX! I did get everything washed yesterday so maybe I can start on them today.
3. I was surprised and a little sad to see Michael go on Idol… but thrilled that they sang shout to the Lord again, with all the correct words this time! How amazing.
4. Stacy told me that The Memory Keeper’s Daughter comes on lifetime as a tv movie this Saturday….if anyone read the book, you might be interested in the movie. I gotta set my dvr.
5. Got any new songs you want to put in my head?
* Uh oh, my cable AND internet is out! So maybe I won’t get this posted after all.
* I’m back after a long delay; they said they’d send someone to fix it. No one has showed up but it’s working for the moment! I think it might be a sign that I need to get busy with other things.
I did get the kitchen cleaned up and few other things done while everything was off … now I need to be off to the machine and some other cleaning!
Have a great Friday!

Stacy and I went shopping this past Saturday while some of the guys played golf. They actually got back to her house before we did and when we drove up we noticed that it looked like nothing but trucks around! With the price of gas you’d think some of us would drive something else, but pickups abound among this crew apparently. This is what we saw; four, count-em-four trucks!
What, you don’t have that many trucks in front of your house? 😆 You’re missing all the fun I tell ya!

All extended cab, either blue or gray now that I think about it!

We spent the day in Jackson Saturday, the boys played golf and I shopped with Stacy. Afterwards we ordered pizza and watched Memphis in their basketball game! Someone commented about one of the players and how he’d probably be going pro soon, after this season is over maybe; and he’s a freshman. So I commented that “aww, he should finish school first before going pro!” Then we had quite the lively discussion for a while about that! I persisted a bit with saying that players should finish college before playing pro ball of any sort and the whole room was pretty much on the other side. 😆 Stacy and I were the only girls but she sort of agreed with them. They all said that athletes have a short time frame to play sports and if they’re really talented and have a chance at a contract for millions of dollars they should take it, they’ll be set for life. I persisted mostly because sometimes taking the opposing view is the only way to engage my group and get any interaction out of them at all! (plus it can be rather fun for me!) I understand totally what they said and I think it’s just the way things are now with sports that of course if any 18-20 year old sees dollar signs he or she is going to go pro and take the money. I have often said in the past that college isn’t for everybody, although I still like to see kids further their education that way. I believe there are also probably lots of people that get a college education and don’t necessarily work in the field they got their degree in. It might be more fun to do what you really enjoy doing instead of going to school!
I had fun going at with my group for a while! But it did make me wonder (since I’m out of other ideas!)……..what would you do if you had a child/young adult with a remarkable talent for something big, sports or anything else. Would you encourage them in that and in getting signed to a big contract for lots of money? Or encourage them to go to college first and then pursue the other? Kinda hard to decide hypothetically I suppose but just for fun, what do you think?
College or go pro with the Money! (I would hope my children would buy me a nice new house or something with their big money!)

Oooh, remember this?

Jeremy sent me home with the recipe he used for these molten lava cakes and a couple of people asked about the recipe. Now I haven’t made this myself, only eaten it! But here’s the recipe he uses.

Molten chocolate lava cake
1/2 c. unsalted butter, cut into pieces
6 oz. semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate, cut into small pieces (he used semi-sweet I think)
3 large eggs, separated
1/3 c. granulated white sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon cream of tarter
1 tablespoon granulated white sugar

I got home from North Carolina late Tuesday night and was pretty much good for nothing on Wednesday. One way is roughly 655 miles, which makes for a loooong drive by myself! This time I made a stop in Atlanta to meet Lynne, another blogger. What fun! We had lunch and visited for a while and I enjoyed talking with her so much. She was sweet to come meet me along the road! It was only after Atlanta that I got bored and really tired. I listened to Atlanta traffic and weather for about 30 minutes straight while navigating the roads there. Then I flipped through all 247 xm radio stations at least once but mostly listened to the Blend, a country station some (hence the title!) and one or 2 others……..you can hear a lot of the same songs on different channels! I tend to munch and eat when I’m bored too so that’s not a good thing. The last couple of hours was hard, there seemed to be nothing left to do! Next time I do a road trip I need to make sure to get to the library ahead of time to check out some books on tape.
I had wanted to stop when I got into Mississippi to visit with Jenny but it was dinnertime, she was keeping Mandalyn’s kids and couldn’t get away then. I hope to catch them another time.
I’ve caught up with Idol, a netflix movie and a few other tivo’d things. I judged one bible drill competition last night, got one more tonight. I’m mostly caught up on blog reading (you girls sure write a lot!). And I should probably get all the sewing paraphernalia out of my car before it starts raining again!
Here’s a picture from my lunch with Lynne on Tuesday.

It’s a long trip alone over sand and stone

One of the things Kathryn wanted us to do when I went to visit was to make some capri pants for Katelyn along with a top. She couldn’t find much in the store that just really wowed her; we might have had a bit of trouble coming up with ideas because we had the kids with us! Once she started looking at eyelet trims though she was able to decide pretty quickly what she would do….she bought red gingham for the outfit and had me monogram on the front of it. It took way longer than either one of us thought it would to finish but there were babies to tend to, clothes to wash and meals to do all in between times. I didn’t get to see Katelyn in it yet but am hoping for pictures soon. She looks like she could be such a girly girl to me but she really has an aversion to trying things on or playing dress up! I didn’t know little girls were like that 😆 Kathryn said she sometimes will bribe her with a cookie to try new clothes on.
Here’s the fruit of my labor for the last few days, and I thought it turned out really cute…..

I never seem to be able to have time to do much else when I’m around the kids! I’m sure I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have little ones around all day….feed, change diapers, play, take naps and then start all over again! Kathryn and I have been trying to sew some too but we kind of have to wait until they are taking naps or asleep for the night. They’ve gone to the gym this morning so I’ll post just a few pictures and then I need to finish up with some of the sewing!

I decided to drive to Charlotte to visit for a few days! Spent one night with E in Tuscaloosa and then drove the rest of the way yesterday so I was rather tired last night. And it’s busy with kids around so I haven’t had much time for the computer yet. I hope to post again in a day or 2, hopefully with some fun pictures of the kids! Kathryn and I might do some sewing; she wants a few things for Katelyn….but other than that we’re just visiting and hanging out. It’s been 3 months since I’ve seen all the little ones and I’m missing them all!
I’ll be back soon!
