My daughter’s due date is this weekend. She went Tuesday afternoon for her appointment and asked her doc if she’d strip her membranes for her. The doc said sure! And was K ready to go into labor that night….Kathryn told her no! Jeremy’s grandmother was coming in Tuesday night, he was picking her up so Kathryn didn’t want him to be gone and her go into labor. I had to laugh because I would have thought if you’re ready to spur the labor on you’d be ready to go into labor. She told the doc she was thinking more like she’d like to have it Friday because it would be convenient for family to come. (silly girl) So they made her an appointment to come in this afternoon to get the procedure done and she thinks she might go on into labor after that and hopefully have the baby Friday. She’s about 3 cm dilated she told me. His parents are coming on Friday I think…..guess I’ll go on up too! Worked on my to do list yesterday:
Got gas in my suburban, washed 4 loads of clothes, straightened the house and vacuumed downstairs, ran the dishwasher and did a few errands. I still need to get a big letter “S” monogrammed on a piece of blue fabric today, go to the bank, and library to find some books on tape. Then I need to load my car. All of that will have to be after I walk though. 🙂 Maybe we can get this show on the road.
“I’m coming up so you better get this party started”
Do you hip chickiees know that song! (you might can get pretend points if you do, how fun is that!)
I’ve still been sticking to my walking every morning, by myself mostly which I still am not fond of! But it helps that I go to the small city park with a walking track because if I go in the mornings around 8ish there are so many other people out there doing the same thing. I figure it must be good for me and I think I do feel better when I keep it up. Today though I wore my pedometer for the first time in a while, was pretty sure I was walking about 2 1/2 miles so I wanted to check it against that; 2.68, so I’m on track I guess. I hope I’ll be able to keep on with it when I go visit Kathryn after she has the baby…….if I ever quit, it’s so hard to start back up again. 😆
And here is where the “walk” will take a 180 degree turn! This was something I read toward the end of a book I’ve been reading this week, Big Stone Gap.
“No on worries about you like your mother, and when she is gone, the world seems unsafe, things that happen unwieldy. You cannot turn to her anymore, and it changes your life forever. There is no one on earth who knew you from the day you were born; who knew why you cried, or when you’d had enough food; who knew exactly what to say when you were hurting; and who encouraged you to grow a good heart. When that layer goes, whatever is left of your childhood goes with her. Memories are very different and cannot soothe you the same way her touch did.”
I’ve felt rather emotional this week for some reason and that sorta made me sad when I read it or maybe it seemed sad because I was already emotional! But it does seem sorta true to me that it does change your life when your mother is no longer around and sometimes I don’t know that we ever get that until it’s happened and then it might be too late to appreciate some of it. When my kids were little and things seemed hard at times, I told Don many times that the kids would just never “get it”; he said one day when they were grown they would appreciate us more….to which I always told him I’d be dead before they ever realized it! I still think some of it might be true, maybe we don’t always appreciate things until they’re gone.
Ok, the rest of my “walk” today needs to be washing clothes and getting ready for a road trip when the new baby decides he’s ready to come!
P.S…..one interesting tidbit I read in the back of the book about the author Adriana Trigiani. It says she honed her storytelling abilities over a decade of writing & producing some tv shows, including the groundbreaking Cosby Show. I didn’t know that but we loved that show as a family and will still watch reruns from time to time.
Finished up the last of the burp cloths I started working on a week or so ago, maybe this is the last of the sewing things you’ll have to see for a while! Although I am wanting to make a baby blanket of some sort but can’t find what I want to do or the fabric I want to use. I put away most of the sewing stuff last night and am off to my sewing/software class this morning.

I pulled some new recipes out to try but then got to looking in my freezer and decided that there were things I needed to work on getting used up soon! So nothing earth shattering this week, although I will use some meat for a new crockpot dish I think.
Join in the fun and visit Laura for all the other menus this week!
Monday…..Seared tuna steaks, veggies
Tuesday….Grilled chicken wraps, fruit
Wednesday..church supper
Thursday….Crockpot pizza……..I think this is more of a pasta, meat, cheese dish done in the crockpot. I’ve never done it before so haven’t posted the recipe anywhere yet.
Friday….leftovers
Last week I made this baked salmon dish and a ranch chicken salad….both turned out good! I made the vegetarian lasagna which we also really liked, but the link wasn’t working. Let me know if you want the recipe and I’ll try to get it posted or sent to you.
I’m still trying to catch up from when I was out of town…..maybe if you all just didn’t post for a day or 2, I might could get all caught up, Kthanksbye!
Jen from a good cup of coffee passed this along to me recently; she’s too sweet!
The sentiment behind this award:
the thing that I love most about blogging is that I learn so much about a person just by reading their blog. I have met MANY wonderful people with wonderful stories to tell, and I am grateful every day for each person that I have the pleasure of crossing paths in life with.I wanted to create something special for people who have inspired me through their blogging; the stories they tell, and the lives that they lead with grace and dignity. I visit their blogs for inspiration and encouragement.Although there are MANY people I want to give this award to at this very moment, I am going to choose ten bloggers:Please grab your badge and wear it(with a smile) proudly, and pass it on because you inspire and encourage me, thank you.So, now it is my turn to pass it on
It’s always hard for me to pick for these kinds of things, am never sure of who has gotten it before, who has time to do them, etc.! So I’ll pick just a few today and maybe they can pass it along too.
Jenny, a coach for life
Jenna, a joyful journey
Mandalyn, my grace and hope
These are 3 real life friends who also happen to be from my state; I’ve enjoyed reading and learning more about them plus I got to meet Jenny this summer! It’s fun to see their comments to each other and read about them interacting at church and in their homes.
Annie, my life as Annie….of course she makes us all smile! She shares her life story with us as she blogs and writes. Sometimes I pop by her place just to listen to the music!
Becky, the butler’s wife…… her latest post as I’m writing this had great ideas about recycling & if we had it in our area I could learn a few things from her. She’s a pastor’s wife, which I love hearing about, she’s very crafty and sews as well so it’s fun for me to find girls with some of the same interests as me!
Kim, Kim’s candor…..her hubby just left for an extended vacation in the desert. Her family inspires me, how they live with a family member in the military and are dealing with all that right now with her girls. I’m proud and grateful for people like them…..I think I first heard from her call us “imaginary friends” and that makes me smile!
I really have too many others to list tonight…..I still am enjoying this blog journey and all of you make it so much fun each week!
Apparently it doesn’t take much to entertain our family sometimes! While we were in Texas this past weekend we got to talking about the fact that Saturday was the equinox and someone mentioned that on those days of the year is when you can stand eggs on their end. Shanna teaches 3rd grade; she said the 5th graders the day before had been trying to do it at school with the teacher and he told them they couldn’t do it Friday but could on Saturday on the equinox. It was in their books she told us. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard this before, probably because it has to do with science and I like science about as much as I like math and numbers which is zero! So Trent got out a carton of eggs and proceeded to try standing them up……we are easily amused and entertained in our family. 😆

Our little Grayson turned 5 recently, his mom and dad planned a party for him this past Saturday. So hubby and I flew to Texas on Friday to spend the weekend visiting with the kids, and going to a party of course! I hadn’t seen the little ones since the first of June so I was more than ready for that, got some good hugs too. The party was Saturday afternoon, with some of Trent and Shanna’s friends and their kids. They got one of those big bouncy things for all the kids to jump on….did you know that they’ll bring them to your house, set it up and come back again to get it the next day? Pretty handy. This one was a sports related one with some baskets on the inside for shooting balls in…..

I’m including this nonfiction book…..we’re using it on Wednesday nights at church. I’m hoping that putting it on my list will help motivate me to finish it.
Beyond Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson

Here’s what I think we’ll have this week….barring any unforeseen circumstances I suppose.

I’ve been sewing for about the last two days, I’m not through but I think I’m going to have to quit before I Lose.My.Mind! When I sew I tend to get nothing else done, no housework at all, no computer, no reading and barely any meals. I wanted to get everything for Kathryn finished this week and sent off to her but I decided while laying in bed late last night that it’s just not going to happen. I’ve worked on burp cloths and have maybe 2 more to go, worked on a blanket for a while too. And there’s still someone else here I need to make a gift for that I’ve been putting off for a bit. This sewing and embroidering seems to make such a mess that I hate to put it all up without being done.
We’re going to get to see some of our kids this weekend, I’m very excited about that! So today I’ll have to shove the sewing out of the way, regroup and do some cleaning up. I’ve missed being online and seeing what’s happening out there; maybe I can pop by when I’m in and out of the computer room today.
On a different note, I think I’ve finally decided that if I’m ever going to be regular with walking again that I’m going to have to do it by myself……ugh, which I don’t like at all. So this week I have strapped on my iPod, walked to the park to do a few laps on the walking track and then walk home. It’s about a 2 mile walk that way and eventually I’ll work up to a bit more. Somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind I keep hoping that one day the experts will decide, once you’ve exercised for a month you never have to do it again, EVER! I want the benefits of it without having to do it on a regular basis, something I struggle with continually and not just with walking but with other things in life too. I did find some fit podcasts I could download from ITunes for free, but I haven’t just loved the one I’ve heard. So in the meantime, anyone got suggestions for good podcasts they like? Or some good fun music to work out/walk with?
I hope to have some pictures later this evening or tomorrow morning of the stuff I’ve been working on!
I’m basically dry today, can’t think what to do or write about! I’m not motivated to do much of anything although I have loads to do. So I’ll put up just one more video of the baby girl……ok well, maybe not the very last one ever. Who am I kidding, if they send me something else I might force it on you share it with you!
I hope to get some cute pics of the TX kids soon also.
And I’m thinking that kiss is just for ME!
Today is the day……..the Monk and Neagle cd is out today! I was lucky enough to receive one back in the summer and I’ve really enjoyed my copy. This is your chance to run right out to your store and get one. Or if you like to order online, check out Monk & Neagle’s site and click on the order button. Right now it says if you order today you can get it autographed, cool! Their tour dates are posted as well so they might be coming close to you. I let our youth director listen to my cd and he was already familiar with them, he liked it too. This is a good one to get if you’re ready for some new music! I think you’ll like it.

I’m still not feeling like I want to cook much and hope I can snap out of it soon!
Thanks to Laura for hosting each week.
Monday……Seasoned tilapia, veggie
Tuesday…..Crustless bacon & cheese quiche, thanks Carrie!
Wednesday..church supper (chicken chow mein)
Thursday….Chicken quesadillas
Friday……eat out I think
weekend….dinner plans with family!
I hope your Monday is going well. I’m off to eat my oatmeal which I haven’t made in a while and it doesn’t taste good at all! Must be out of practice, hubby usually fixes it!
We’ve been studying parables at church recently and last weekend while watching a movie we heard this quote by Malcolm Muggeridge:
“Every happening, great and small, is a parable whereby God speaks to us, and the art of life is to get the message.
I’m not familiar with Muggeridge but both of us really liked the quote and D used it in his sunday school lesson too.
God speaks, and I need to listen.
