“just me and you, you know it takes two”
I’ve been seeing this Two Things Meme floating around and swiped it from Stacy and the other people that have done it!
Two names you go by…Mom and DeeDee
Two things you are wearing right now… gray velour pants and black t-shirt; I’ll put on a hoodie when I go outside!
Two things you would want (or have) in a relationship…commitment and love
Two of your favorite things to do… read and shop
Two things you want very badly at the moment…you know, I can’t really think of anything! how about: instantly lose weight and move some place else! neither of which are gonna happen!
Two pets you have or have had… Arthur (Liz’s cat she still hasn’t taken) and Caleb, the best dog ever who’s no longer with us
Two things that you did last night… watched tv a little bit and read
Two people you think will fill this out… no idea! But I hope some of you will 🙂
Two things you ate today… yogurt and soup
Two people you last talked to… Don and Debbie P.
Two things you’re doing tomorrow…don’t know yet! maybe clean and cook!
Two longest car rides…when we used to drive 24 hours straight to Colorado for our ski trips and maybe the 16 day trip we took going to Montana and back with all sorts of places in between
Two favorite holidays…Christmas and Thanksgiving
Two favorite beverages… water and water; well I like coffee with flavored creamers sometime!
Two people no longer alive who you’d like to talk to… my mom and my grandma Presh (this was Stacy’s answer too and a good one I thought so I used it too!) Don’s dad would be another good one
Let me know if you’ve done this or play along!
“one can wish upon a star, two can make a wish come true…..it takes two baby!”
My jury duty for the whole month of February started today, ugh. This is for federal court for the northern district of our state. We had to be there at 8:30 this morning, being sure to bring no cell phones, palm pilots, newspapers, magazines, food, drinks, etc.! I did put a book in my purse that went through security. They didn’t say anything about it but I was sitting on the front row of my section and I wasn’t sure I should bring it out right away; maybe I’d get thrown in jail or kicked out! We sat there for one solid hour before they even called the roll so I finally read some holding the book low in my lap. 🙂 Apparently there were supposed to be 65 jurors there but only 56 of us showed up. Then they talked to us just a bit about how they’d throw all our cards in a jury wheel, spin it around and then seat us in order of how our names were drawn. After sitting around for 2 hours, the judge finally came in at 10:30 to tell us how important jury duty is and how good it was we were there. And that the 2 defendants were Hispanic, couldn’t speak a word of English and they had 2 translators there that needed to talk with them and their lawyers. So he dismissed us for lunch and said to be back before 1 so we could start promptly. I ran some errands during the lunch break, this court happens to be in a neighboring town and I didn’t want to drive 30 something miles home and back again. When we get back after lunch the judge again gives us a talk about how important it was that we were there and how it wasn’t a waste of time! (silly me, I had been thinking that it was a waste of time!) He said they’d been trying to have resolution to the case for a while but that because we’d showed up today they got their resolution…they plead guilty during that break. He then did something though that I’ve never encountered the other times I’ve had to do this; he had one of the lawyers give us a recap of the case. One of the prosecutors told us that last fall an officer had been driving on the interstate close to Memphis when he noticed a suburban with a paper tag. He pulled it over to question them…. there were twenty people in the car, 20! He called the immigration people to help question them and they all confessed to being in this country illegally. The 2 men arrested were charged with knowingly transporting illegal aliens. They were driving from Arizona to Alabama to work. So today they decided to confess that they were guilty; they are being deported and are on their way back to Mexico! This seems to be a big problem in our area now, although I’m sure it goes on in lots of places.
I’m through for today but the judge told us they still have several more cases pending this month and we have to keep calling to see about when to report next. It may not be a waste of time but it’s somewhat inconvenient at times! We’ll see how the rest of the month progresses.
It started off good, the sun was shining this morning and it wasn’t freezing cold! But the clouds are rolling back so I don’t think I can trust this weather; it looks like we’re gonna get more rain today and tomorrow, ugh.
We had church last night so had to tivo the Super Bowl but we did have fun watching the recording! I have lots of leftover food at the moment so I’m not going to plan any meals right now, just hopefully use up what’s here. And I have federal jury duty starting tomorrow so I have no idea what my days will be like for the rest of the week, or possibly month since my summons said it was for the month! I should know more after tomorrow.
Just got through fixing a dish to carry to church; our elderly friend that had the stroke passed away and our church usually feeds the family for a noon meal. I need to change clothes and get going for the service in a bit and take some things to the church secretary for hubby.
Here’s something else I can’t trust……..

I should have sent those home with some friends last night after the game because they are screaming my name and wanting me to eat them so bad! I hate to throw them out, I wonder if they’ll freeze? Because I’ll be wearing them on my hips otherwise. Maybe Don will eat them for supper. 😆
Hope your Monday is a good one!
I was totally blown away with the response I had for the crayon rolls! 158, wow! I had decided ahead of time that I would use the random number generator because it seemed easy enough to do, and this is what it came up with……
Random Integer Generator
Here are your random numbers:

“There’ll be only happy tears..”
This last week or two we’ve had several funerals to attend. One of our friends lost his father, but he’s lived a long life and they’ve rejoiced because he came to know the Lord in the last few years. Another good friend lost their grown son when he took his own life; that was a hard funeral and there were just no words to say. I cannot imagine what they’re going through after it’s all over, yet I think they’re confident of where he is as well. Another friend from church has a grown daughter with cancer who doesn’t have long to live, she’ll leave behind a small child; and we just got a call the other night that an elderly man in our church was in the ER with a massive stroke. He has a living will that they’re going by so it looks like only a matter of time for them as well. We went by the hospital last night to see this man’s wife and family and that was hard for me to see; brought back memories of when my mom had a stroke and passed away. I feel inadequate and am never quite sure what to say; sometimes I think maybe the best thing is just to be there.
We are without a pastor right now at church which makes it difficult when we have these things going on. Hubby is the one they seem to be calling right, chairman of deacons and he’s on the committee that’s searching for a new one. So he’s been rather busy too in addition to a regular job.
It’s also raining again here today and that must make me a bit more melancholy too. I’m desperately seeking sunshine but none is in my immediate future!
One of my married girls has me working on some stuff to embroider for a gift for one of her friends though, so if I can get back to it that might keep me busy enough to forget about the rain. One thing is finished and turned out cute…..now I’ve got to finish the other and get them in mail because next week, ugh, jury duty starts for me!
I’ve had fun joining in the bloggy giveaways but had way more response than I ever thought. And for the ones of you I “know” and entered, you blessed me with your kindness! I wish I had them for everyone that entered.
Lynne was also kind enough to give me this recently as well

Y’all are all just about the best bloggy friends ever and are always so kind to me! What fun this is to do and get to know so many other people!
Hope you’re having a good day, where ever you are!
This week there’s a huge bloggy carnival giveaway going on over at Shannon’s place, Rocks in my Dryer. I decided to jump on the merry go round and participate too!

“you put your right foot out”
I saw the sun yesterday for the first time in a week I think, it was SO nice! But it was too good to last I suppose because today it’s raining again and I’m so tired of rain/clouds.
I’ve basically got nothing that’s coming to mind, so I’m resorting to silliness!

I took it for me, just for fun………….maybe I’ll be back later with something better, if it ever stops raining!

I was so glad to have a plan in place last week, and everything went pretty much accordingly. This time I’m feeling very uninspired and not wanting to cook much! I seem to swing from one end of the pendulum to the other. 😆 Here’s some things I’m thinking about having this week, but not sure what days I’ll do any of it!
Sausage quiche, salad….I’ll probably use turkey sausage that I have in my freezer
Baked salmon, sweet potatoes, peas
Lentil soup, bread……thanks Susanne!
Burgers and maybe sweet potato fries…….for us it’ll probably be turkey burgers
Church supper….this will be Wednesday and my class has to serve so I’ll be there for it
weekend………I have no idea yet!
Visit Laura for the whole list of menus.
Have a great Monday!
Last week we went to a business meeting in Florida that hubby attends; it’s always in different spots but this year it was held in Marco Island, Florida. It’s south of Naples and they told us it was the largest of the ten thousand islands, I didn’t know about all these islands! We spent Sunday traveling and when we drove from the airport to the hotel it was extremely foggy. I went shopping most of the next day with a group of ladies and didn’t really buy anything but lunch & ice cream for a snack. My sister in law and I tried to sit out by the pool to read the next day…………

I’ve seen several of you do this love/hate meme floating around but instead of doing it, I’ll just tell you the new thing I’m most in love with at the moment! Last month hubby got tivo* for our tvs! I think ours might technically be called dvr but I think it works the same and I’m just saying, where WERE you all my life DVR! 😉 I couldn’t quite wrap my head around the fact that I could pause and rewind live tv until hubby or someone told me the thing is always recording…I’m not very techie you know. No more fooling with vcr tapes or trying to find one when I want to record something. I do record things quite often because commercials, they are a waste of my time! Did you know that you can watch a 1 hour show in about 40 minutes? I don’t want to spend almost 20 minutes on commercials for some show I might want to watch.
A whole lot of nothingness for today but I’m loving the dvr!
“you don’t have to be my baby”
I do believe I’ve forgotten to show you my new ride! It’s not a mustang, although I’ve often thought if I ever had a second car to buzz around in a mustang could be fun. 😆 My kids have been telling me for a long time that I needed to quit driving my BUS Suburban. I didn’t want to get a car because I like being up high and I like having the extra room…..I got a Tahoe, about a month ago.

It’s sort of a champagne/beigey color, called gold mist metallic I think but it doesn’t look gold to me. It has a sunroof, back up camera, xm radio, dvd player (which we haven’t used yet), and a navigational system that we tried out the other day on our drive home from the airport. I think that could come in handy while traveling! Just put in an address and it will give me a route and turning directions. I totally loved the holiday channels on xm radio during Christmas but now that those are off I can’t really find another station I like. However, I can plug my I*pod into this vehicle and it will play everything loaded on it, fun! I’m enjoying it and believe I’ll like this ride for a while.
“When God fearin’ women get the blues, there ain’t no slap-dab-a tellin’ what they’re gonna do…..Run around yellin’, I’ve got a mustang……”

This is the first menu I’ve done since before Christmas I think, and it feels good to actually have a plan this week! Maybe this will help me get back into a routine, something I’ve been having a hard time with this month.
Thanks to Laura for hosting this each week. Check out her place for the other participants.
Monday…….Vegetarian Lasagna, corn on the cob and maybe salad
Tuesday…..Chicken, sweet potatoes, black eye peas
Wednesday….church supper
Thursday……Baked fish, wild rice, veggie
Friday……committee meeting, probably at my house for dinner! I hope my contribution will be rolls
If I need to, I might make cheeseburger soup over the weekend.
Hope y’all have a great Monday!
I guess I just thought I was back when I posted that the other day! I intended to blog this week since we were up and running but went out of town on a business trip with hubby, lugged my new laptop along but never did blog…….something in me rebelled at having to pay the hotel to get online every day! So I enjoyed other things and never turned the computer on.
It’s probably too late to show these but I made some cute little happies for the kiddies for Christmas, crayon rolls……………

Our blogs have been down for a week and I just didn’t quite know what to do with myself! It’s one thing to have it available and just be busy or choose not to do it but when it’s not there, somehow the thought of it was making me loony. Thanks to my sis and brother in law, it seems to be working again…..there are still a few things not just right and I can’t do pictures yet. I thought of tons of things to blog about when I couldn’t, should have written them down because now they’ve probably gone out of my head! I do have some things I sewed I want to share later, but I’ll have to wait until Stacy has time to work on getting them done on her end and sent back to me. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
“these are a few of my favorite……..” Pictures from Christmas! I’ve got so many, it’s hard to decide which ones to show. In case you don’t want to be bored I’ll put them on the extended page; click through if you’re so inclined and have a few minutes. 🙂
