For a few weeks now I’ve been also trying to make a conscious effort to clean out my freezer and cook from it! And that’s only the one attached to the side of my fridge, I haven’t even begun to tackle the industrial strength size I have outside. It’s a freezer for when you have 4 kids living at home, which I don’t, and it’s full too. This week while pulling out mystery things and deciding what to fix I ran across an unopened package I’d forgotten was there…..EDAMAME! I’m probably the only person that hasn’t tried it before but I thawed it out to keep in the fridge and I have to say, I really like these things! Just pop the soybeans out of the pod and eat; I think they’re really good. I’ll be buying them again, but that’s only after I get the rest of this stuff cleaned out and organized.
So have you tried it and like it? If not, check it out. I hope it’s good for you……who knows, they’ll probably decide it’s not after further testing, just like everything else!
Yesterday I thought I might try to go through some of the things in my closet and get them out… it seems I’ve read that you should always throw something away if you’re bringing something new in. There’s my problem, I seem to bring plenty of things in without getting rid of something else! And didn’t I also read that a good way is to maybe get rid of 27 things in one short session? If so, I was good there because my pile has 30+ items in it. My closet has both winter and summer things and right now it seemed a bit easier to go through mostly winter stuff. A lot of these I haven’t worn in a year or longer, that’s why I decided to toss them.

I’ve wanted to use that line for the longest time! (Oooh, another good one that I must use later!) I just love a red door, I see them from time to time and usually really like them. When I walk through town instead of at the track I’ve seen this one that I think looks neat and quaint.

My shot doesn’t really do it justice. Sometimes I feel very self conscious when I stop on the side of the road to take pictures and wonder, does anyone see me and think I’m loony? So I don’t always take multiple shots til I get the right one. But I like this red door and that’s my bit of color for the day. It’s cloudy here, wind chill in the 30’s (I know that’s not cold to lots of you) and 25+ mph winds. A perfect day for staying inside is what I think! I have things to do outside but it’ll have to wait until it’s a bit warmer. I guess I should go see what else I might can get accomplished in the house today.
I wasn’t happy with that picture that I posted this morning, of the big stack of books. I’ve been using Gimp on my desktop to size pictures, Stacy brought a disc and installed it a few years ago. Now I also have this laptop I’m using and I like the way it transfers pictures way better than the desktop but there’s no gimp on the laptop! It did come with hp photosmart and it will resize pics but I don’t think they come out good that way, they always seem blurry to me. So I emailed the picture to my desktop to resize with the program I’m accustomed to using. Plus, Lynne asked if I’d post the titles, so I’m trying a 2nd time to get the picture right!
Not pictured is the book I bought at Lifeway, The Secret Life of Becky Miller by Sharon Hinck.
Pictured are these: Murder on a Girl’s Night Out by Anne George, With this Ring I’m Confused, She’s Out of Control & What a Girl Wants by Kristin Billerbeck; Mystic Lake by Kristin Hannah; Back Home Again, Recipes & Wooden Spoons, Hidden History and Ready to Wed, all part of Tales from the Grace Chapel Inn; Light on Snow by Anita Shreve; Hollywood Nobody by Lisa Samson; At First Sight, Nicholas Sparks and a John Grisham book, The Partner.

You still probably can’t read the titles on this one I sized using my old program, but to me it looks better! And that counts doesn’t it!
“love is lovelier, the second time around“
I must have thought my church library and town library were going to run out of books, because I brought home a big stack from Stacy’s house!

There’s just something wrong with that, a sickness maybe! But she’s read them and they were just sitting there so I brought them home and will work on them eventually. If I do a reading challenge later on, I might use a few of these titles then. And I did buy one book on the sale rack at Lifeway the other day that’s not in this stack, The Secret Life of Becky Miller, new one to me.
Now I gotta go find a place to stash all these books!
“the mice will play”
Hubby had to work in TN this week so I decided to go visit sis Stacy and “play” at her house… which for me usually means shopping! I did do some reading, we watched tv a bit and Stacy & Tim got a couple of things working on my computer because they are the computer geniuses.
I bought some mundane things; an ironing board cover, bathroom cleaner, bird seed, a razor (aren’t you glad Liz!). I got hubby some new khaki pants because he wears his out quite often! But after that I bought a few things for me too. Some jeans, trouser kind is what I would call them. I found these brown shoes too; I wasn’t looking for shoes but Stacy was and I decided to get them too. Liz might be proud for me!

And I got this jacket on sale for 17 dollars! But I probably need one of the 3 girls in our family to tell me whether to keep it and maybe what I should wear under it.

I have to peruse the clearance aisles at Target too, that’s very therapeutic you know. 😉
This little make up bag was only 3 dollars, my kind of deal.

We’re both home now, Don is tired from driving but some friends are coming over to watch a movie with us. Our new interim preacher wants to come over tomorrow night to visit with him about some church stuff and Sunday is always a busy day at our house. But we’re looking forward to the weekend, hope yours is fun too!
I get lots of Christmas cards each year, and I absolutely LOVE the photo ones! I hang them up on the doorways in my den where we can look at them and I usually leave them up into January because I keep getting cards for several weeks after Christmas….I even got one last week! I think it must technically be a Valentine though, they might have had hearts on it somewhere. This year I was having several functions at my house so I left them up through those; everyone commented how much they liked seeing the cards. And I left them up so I could hear the kids fuss about them when they came to see me for my birthday; I knew they’d have comments and they did NOT disappoint!

But my question is……

Today I wonder…….
*if I’m the only one who might write a great post in my head… while driving down the road, shopping in the store, in the shower but when I get home to put it down, it never comes out the right way or the way I thought it might. I might have forgotten half of it and then I can just never get it right from there. Oh and sometimes I’ll think of something really thought provoking and profound to write about when I’m in sunday school; teacher/hubby will say something really good that I want to remember but that’s usually gone by the time I get home too.
*or more the norm, am I the only one that seems to run out of things to write about?
*am I the only one that takes pictures of random and strange things? like fabric in the store, food in restaurants, my overloaded garbage cans on the road, a door or window on a building somewhere? (what do people think of me that might see me doing that?)
*am I the only one with a too full freezer, an out of control inbox and overflowing closets and attics?
*am I the only one who has a husband that never reads their blog or barely knows what one is? (of course I might be glad lots of days that he doesn’t read here) 😀
*am I the only one who still doesn’t have caller id on their phone! I want that corrected, soon!
That’s about as random as it gets! But sometimes strange thoughts run through this little brain of mine! I might actually think of more later.
My dad came up on Saturday to spend a couple of nights; two of the kids and Don’s mom also came on Sunday… we all went to church and went out to eat at the country club afterwards for my birthday! I enjoyed seeing them all and Liz and David brought me these.

I love tulips, and am enjoying having them around here! I got a new Fossil watch from Don (that I picked out when we went to the store the other night), some money, an itunes gift card from Stacy (always fun to shop for new music), talked to everyone on the phone, and one of the kids got me some new silver hoops. I don’t seem to be able to keep a good pair of those for some reason.
We had a good weekend…..the kids gave me a candy bar too. 😆 Which I promptly ate soon after they left because of something I perceived as stressful! More on that later, but what is it with tires and this family!
P.S. thank you for all your sweet, precious comments about the babies! Y’all are very sweet to this chickiee roo roo and I appreciate it!
(Dawn R…..you might know this song title! seems I remember you might be a fan of his)
I’ve been meaning to ask my kids to send new pictures of the little ones but keep forgetting to do it. However Kathryn sent me a few new ones yesterday that I was excited to get! So I’ll bore you share them with you.
Uh oh, this might be what Katelyn did with the crayons I put in her crayon roll at Christmas!

“you make me smile with my heart”
I haven’t seen the little kids in about 2 months and wanted to send them something for Valentine’s. I didn’t think chocolate would do very good in the mail so I looked around and found a few other little candy type things that I thought would be ok. And I stuck in some small toys I had around the house… little containers of play dough, cars, etc. I found a template online to use with tootsie pops so I ran those off; they ended up taking more time to cut out than I realized, I guess I’m rusty on the cutting and pasting!

It all went in………

Like lots of things around here, my freezer seems to be Out.Of.Control! Sometimes I do seem to buy too much, I must still think I’m cooking for a large family instead of two. But also I have a tendency to put leftovers and other things in the freezer to use later and forget about them. I’m trying to make a conscious effort to cook from my freezer and use up stuff before I buy any more! Yesterday Jen sent me her recipe for 7 can soup; it sounded a lot like one I have that we call 6 can soup and it seemed like a good thing to put in the crockpot for a cold, rainy day. The problem was, I didn’t really have all the canned things I needed for it so I raided the freezer/pantry and came up with some substitutes. Then I noticed that in the freezer I had……..

THE BLOG MEME
Lynne tagged me for this meme so here’s my stab at it!
How long have you been blogging? The first posts I did were back in October of 2005, almost 2 1/2 years ago but they were few and far between in the beginning.
What inspired you to start your blog, and who are your mentors? I started my blog because my sister Stacy already had one and she encouraged me to do it as well. They had set up a few of my kids with blogs so I thought it’d be a great way to keep up with each other. None of the kids are really blogging anymore and don’t read mine, so it didn’t pan out as a way to keep up with family. They stay incredibly busy!
I’m very grateful to Stacy and Tim for all the work they do on the family website to keep us up & running. And for all she does to help me on my blog, she still has to do some of the more technical things for me but has taught me to do some of them myself!
Are you trying to make money online, or are you doing it just for fun? It’s been all for fun!
What three things do you love about being online?
1. I love the friends I’ve made and met through my blog! It’s been so much fun to get to know them and their lives in other parts of the country/world.
2. Shopping online, being able to be in jammies and buy most anything I want from the comfort of my home! Does it get any better than that… I think not.
3. It does keep me connected to other people; and email keeps me connected with family. I can learn new things and find most any information you want.
Chat and IM? Yes, in a heartbeat! If someone would do that with me! I used to IM with the kids a fair amount but they don’t do that anymore either. I think that cell phones being used so prominently now has done away with IM’ing and such. I have a webcam on my new computer but haven’t figured out how to work it yet… I’m longing to get it going so I can “see” and talk to the little ones more often. I miss them like crazy and they’re still little enough to want to talk to Deedee!
Blogging has been a fun thing for me to do. I had no idea what do in the beginning, still don’t lots of times! The posts were very sparse for quite a few months as I tried to feel my way around it all and I had no readers except for my sisters. I still don’t write very well and have just a few more readers but I’ve SO enjoyed everyone that comes by– reading their blogs, learning about their lives and families and faith, and emailing with them some. It’s been a great ride so far!
I won’t tag anyone specifically today but would really like to see your answers. So if you need something to write about one day soon, jump in and then let me know that you did!
That would be me, in case you can hear me! I’ve been having to check every day to see about reporting to jury duty and the notice this weekend said that we were excused and didn’t have to report again. Now I can actually plan something for the rest of the month! I think that’s what I dislike about it the most is never knowing when I’d have to go during the month until maybe the night before. At least when I get called locally for duty in my town I know it’s only for one week, never the month. So I might just have to plan a trip or shopping expedition for something fun to do. 😉
I’ve been sewing a bit over the weekend….I appreciate all the ideas I got for that sticky velcro! I think I’ll keep it because we just might find some uses for it after all. Sunday is always a full day for us with church, other meetings and activities, so I’ll be back on Monday I think.
What kind of fun things have you done this weekend?
Today there is no love lost between me and this………….

Velcro with a sticky back……….I’m NOT stuck on it but it stuck to everything I didn’t want it to yesterday!
