* We had a busy but fun weekend. Hubby played in a local golf tournament with one of his good friends. Liz’s boyfriend was here and sis Stacy and her hubby Tim came up as well! The 4 guys played 27 holes Saturday in lots of sunshine and heat…around 100 with a heat index that was probably almost 110, yikes! Us girls stayed in my air conditioned house not doing much of anything. I was excited that Don and his partner came in second in their flight; they needed that boost, plus gift cards were a fun reward.
* Liz is getting us geared up here for the Olympics; which doesn’t take much because that’s always been one of our favorite things. She has had us watching the travel channel and some of the specials on China. Hubby has asked if we could ti*vo the track events and some other things……..I’m worried that I could run out of room on the dvr!
* I talked to our kids in Houston last night; they have been trying to get prepared for the storm that is expected to hit there. It was already raining last night and they were heading to the other grandparents house; it will be good to have help with the kids in case they lose power. I’ve heard that this storm could dump 10 inches of rain! We need some of that rain here but don’t think it’ll make it this far.
* And thinking about their little kids, Grayson will start kindergarten in a couple of weeks! How can that be and where did the time go? He’s very excited about it they said, I imagine it will be a bit bittersweet. Kindergarten is such a big step and milestone but was always somewhat emotional for me!
* Also, their newest baby Henry has started sucking his thumb!

I’m gonna love like nobody’s loved you come rain or come shine

What’s going on in your neck of the woods today?
Rain or shine?

Kindergarten is such a big step! I know my son was ready, even though I wasn’t.

Thumb sucking is so cute in my book. Unfortunately, my Best Girl is almost four and still sucking hers. It won’t be cute much longer!

I hear you on the kindergarten, Nicholas is starting next week and my poor heart is breaking LOL It’s so hard, time really does fly.

We had a good time on Saturday. I’m just grateful you had air conditioning and we didn’t have to be out at the golf course all day with them in that heat. You should have posted a pic of Don and J with their prize packages!

Grayson and our nephew Ethan will both be starting kindergarten. Seems like yesterday they were Henry’s age. Cute picture of him. I hope they don’t lose power, or for long.

I’m getting ready for the Olympics too. Watching the Today show in the AM and watching/DVR’ing a lot of the stuff on Travel Channel and others. There’s a bunch on this week, including Seven Wonders stuff, check it out. I will want to watch more than Tim. But he’ll play golf a lot so I can watch then! 🙂

Oh, but ain’t that the truth about the time flying! My “baby” is five already and heading off to 1st grade…ouch!

Goodness, but that Henry is one precious little fellow! There is just something so adorable about a babe sucking his thumb, isn’t there? My heart is melting!!!

Hope your heat breaks soon…how incredibly ugly!

There is almost nothing cuter than a baby sucking their thumb. Adorable!

I have some friends whose little ones are going to kindergarten tomorrow..it is such a big stepping stone. When we lived in Fl we went through Hurricane Opal…it was so scary and yet exciting…
I heart babies sucking their thumbs….and by the way its not raining here…sun is out loud and clear….

This time of year makes me glad I don’t golf…too hot!

Precious picture of Henry. Neither of my kids found their thumb to suck it (I guess grant still has time!)

Awww…kindergarten! They grow up so fast!

  9. Tammy Says:

Gail, that picture of him sucking his thumb is so cute!!! My girls never did that, though…but loved the pacifiers (just like I did, I’m told, too!)
And Kindergarten…although we home school, as you know, our youngest had a big graduation from Sunday school Kindergarten this year and it was SO bittersweet for me!

Have a great rest of the week~

  10. Becky Says:

Would you just look at that precious face??? Oh, my.

Just checking in to say hi. I am thinking, we need to be making chinese food for the next couple of weeks. I am gonna look into that. We are HUGE Olympic fans also.

Awww Henry is precious 🙂 Well since I’m in your neck of the woods as you know it’s hot, dry and miserable here! Can’t wait for winter so we can have some fall weather…hehe

  12. Sonya Says:

Henry is beautiful! If we have a son in the future, he’ll be called Henry too! I have always loved that name.

I can’t believe the guys played golf in that heat! Not me honey, I’d be under the air conditioner! Nothing is worth that heat! LOL!

We love the olympics, too! At least I do and Mark will watch some. I love the swimming, diving, gymnastics, beach vollyball, track&field….I especially love to see the awards ceremonies. I love the look on the winners faces when they hear their anthem playing! That must be such an awesome feeling!

Ethan started school last week. His first day was 08/07. It was very bittersweet for me. I can’t believe how much he has grown. He was so big and was really ready. He got his first loose tooth, too. That’s a lot to happen in one week.

Abby sucks her thumb, too. It was cute when she was a baby, but now…I just wish that she would stop…she’s 3 1/2.

I so enjoy reading about your kids, grandkids and church stuff. Keep it up!
