For a few weeks now I’ve been also trying to make a conscious effort to clean out my freezer and cook from it! And that’s only the one attached to the side of my fridge, I haven’t even begun to tackle the industrial strength size I have outside. It’s a freezer for when you have 4 kids living at home, which I don’t, and it’s full too. This week while pulling out mystery things and deciding what to fix I ran across an unopened package I’d forgotten was there…..EDAMAME! I’m probably the only person that hasn’t tried it before but I thawed it out to keep in the fridge and I have to say, I really like these things! Just pop the soybeans out of the pod and eat; I think they’re really good. I’ll be buying them again, but that’s only after I get the rest of this stuff cleaned out and organized.
So have you tried it and like it? If not, check it out. I hope it’s good for you……who knows, they’ll probably decide it’s not after further testing, just like everything else!

Well, you’re definitely not the only person who hasn’t tried it…heck, I never even heard of it before! But you’ve definitely got me intrigued now. Where do you find it in the grocery store?

I’ve never tried these either, but my kids used to eat them at the neighbor’s house and raved about them.

I don’t think I’ve tried them…
you eat it raw?

You know, I bought a bag a couple of years ago at Kroger and ended up throwing them out when we were defrosting our outside fridge. That one has a bad habit of getting lots of ice on the inside of bags (as you saw with my green beans). I haven’t bought another bag, but maybe I should. I’ve had them at a Japanese place here and I like them, but Tim does not.
So you just defrosted them? And ate them right out of the pod? Yummy, might need to get me some.

I’ve heard of them but never tried them….now you have me curious. Maybe I should get some and give a try.

I’ve never even heard of them. I’ll be looking for them though in about a week when it’s grocery day again.

I have seen them, but never really ate them plain. McDonalds has them in their Asian Chicken Salad, and I can only eat a few before they get a bit much for me. I have heard they are healthy good for you.

I hadn’t heard of it until I saw it on another blog this week. I guess I am not a “cool” food girl. I will have to look for it in the store!

You can clean your fridge out like we do…Have company that leaves the door open all night. But, I don’t recommend it!

Ok, I have a friend who eats those for breakfast, but I never questioned her on what they were, or what the package looks like, or …..hang on, I think I remember trying one out of her ziploc bag. Not a bad memory, so maybe I should go buy more.
As far as cleaning out the freezer, I’ve been doing that too. I went to get some chicken breasts (you know the kind in the bag individually frozen?) for dinner today, and noticed that someone had put them up without making sure the bag was closed good. 8 breasts with freezer burn. Talk about throwing money away!! Frustrating!! Anyway, I’m down to 4 steaks, 3 lbs of hamburger, 2 whole chickens…and a partridge in a pear tree 😉 Wanna come over for dinner?!?

Love ’em! They are such a fun and yummy treat when you pop them out of the pod. And they are supposed to be VERY good for you – like you said, that cna change, but for now they are supposedly a wonder food!

OK, ladies, here’s the real skinny on these. You get them at all the good Japanese, sushi restaurants, you cook or steam them w/salted on the outside. Very good and healthy. I just ate some last week in Orlando. I get them when I go eat sushi………very good.
