THE BLOG MEME
Lynne tagged me for this meme so here’s my stab at it!
How long have you been blogging? The first posts I did were back in October of 2005, almost 2 1/2 years ago but they were few and far between in the beginning.
What inspired you to start your blog, and who are your mentors? I started my blog because my sister Stacy already had one and she encouraged me to do it as well. They had set up a few of my kids with blogs so I thought it’d be a great way to keep up with each other. None of the kids are really blogging anymore and don’t read mine, so it didn’t pan out as a way to keep up with family. They stay incredibly busy!
I’m very grateful to Stacy and Tim for all the work they do on the family website to keep us up & running. And for all she does to help me on my blog, she still has to do some of the more technical things for me but has taught me to do some of them myself!
Are you trying to make money online, or are you doing it just for fun? It’s been all for fun!
What three things do you love about being online?
1. I love the friends I’ve made and met through my blog! It’s been so much fun to get to know them and their lives in other parts of the country/world.
2. Shopping online, being able to be in jammies and buy most anything I want from the comfort of my home! Does it get any better than that… I think not.
3. It does keep me connected to other people; and email keeps me connected with family. I can learn new things and find most any information you want.
Chat and IM? Yes, in a heartbeat! If someone would do that with me! I used to IM with the kids a fair amount but they don’t do that anymore either. I think that cell phones being used so prominently now has done away with IM’ing and such. I have a webcam on my new computer but haven’t figured out how to work it yet… I’m longing to get it going so I can “see” and talk to the little ones more often. I miss them like crazy and they’re still little enough to want to talk to Deedee!
Blogging has been a fun thing for me to do. I had no idea what do in the beginning, still don’t lots of times! The posts were very sparse for quite a few months as I tried to feel my way around it all and I had no readers except for my sisters. I still don’t write very well and have just a few more readers but I’ve SO enjoyed everyone that comes by– reading their blogs, learning about their lives and families and faith, and emailing with them some. It’s been a great ride so far!
I won’t tag anyone specifically today but would really like to see your answers. So if you need something to write about one day soon, jump in and then let me know that you did!

Too funny, I did this one today too! Lynne tagged me too 🙂
I’m glad you finally gave in and started blogging 🙂 I kept telling you for months and months that you would like it. Tim always says that you and I both had to actually jump in before we were convinced we would like it. I’m sorry your kids don’t blog, but maybe they’ll get interested in it again one day. If you figure out that webcam, let me know — I’ll IM with you! 🙂

This was fun to read, Gail. I always enjoy coming over to read your blog and I think you’re a good writer. I got tagged for this a couple days ago. It was fun to go back and think about why I started blogging and the earlier friends that I made. I’m looking at the books on your sidebar — the Tracie Peterson books have such beautiful covers — I’m often drawn to read a book just by the cover. Have a good day!

I am with you on the shopping! It doesn’t get any better than shopping from your comfy chair in your jammies!

Fun meme – I saw Barb did this one and think I’ll jump on the bandwagon too. Enjoyed reading your answers.
