I talked to daughter K this week and found out she was having another sonogram, just to check on things because the baby seems to be measuring bigger than how far along she is. She wanted the dr. to move the due date up earlier but they aren’t going to do that! He just might be a big baby is what they are thinking. Yesterday I called her after the sonogram and she was soooo excited and said, “guess what!” I got to see his FACE! The tech had some extra time after they did the regular sonogram and said they’d play around a few minutes with the 3-D one. I got teary just hearing her excitement and her description of it all. She saw him moving around, his hand moving, chubby cheeks, his little lips smacking, AND………
I’ve got pictures! Be sure to say hello……

Here’s baby Sam! (30 weeks)

Isn’t that the most amazing thing in the world! K said these still shots don’t really do justice to what she could see on the screen, I think they get blurry a bit when freeze framed because he was moving all around.
The technology just blows my mind. But, there is he, just waiting his time to come meet the world! And I get to see his little face from far away and while he’s still in his mommy’s tummy.
It’s a miracle indeed.

I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:14

WOW! This is awesome. I hope I get to see some of these for real when I do my OB rotation. What a precious face and gift you have. I love this verse…when I was little, my mom sang a Sandi Patti song in church one mother’s day (Masterpiece, I think) and at the end, that verse is said. I got to say it…I was really excited then but now it’s just neat to think about Mama singing about a baby being a masterpiece and creation of God and then me, her daughter, quoting directly from God’s Words to US about that!

Aww, what a sweet little face! He has the cutest little nose. 🙂 My brother and SIL were thinking about having the 3D sonogram done with Goober, but they decided they could buy a lot of diapers with what it would cost, so they didn’t. I kinda wish they had.

  3. Gail Says:

Oh Southern Girl, I should have said in the post, K wouldn’t have paid for it either! They were just nice enough to turn it on and play with it for a bit with her, they didn’t charge for it, how cool and nice!

Oh! MY! GOODNESS! That is the MOST AMAZING thing I have ever seen. i can’t help but think of the scripture that God knew us before we were born. That he formed us in our mother’s wombs. That is a photograph of her unborn baby. JUST THE WAY GOD SEES HIM. I just don’t know how in the world she will be able to wait now.

    Through God’s eyes for sure!

  16. Carrie Says:

Wow, those 3D ultrasounds are amazing! I would have loved to have had one done but my doctor wasn’t that high tech just yet.

That is incredibly incredible. They didn’t have that technology even when I had my last babies–11 years ago. Wow, I’m impressed, and that Sam is one handsome dude! I know you are excited.

    OH Wow…absolutely amazing!
I can just imagine how both your daughter and you must feel being able to see these!

I first saw these, believe it or not, back when I use to watch Regis and his new co-host was having one done live on TV! I was hoping I could have had one done with my last baby but I guess it was too new so most insurances weren’t covering it.

How blessed your daughter (and you!) are to have these wonderful early glimpses!
