Yesterday I decided to rearrange my outside freezer so I’d have a better idea of what I had stored in there. I didn’t end up throwing anything out but stacked things better and moved some stuff around. And found some things that I had totally forgotten about! Something good, like a chocolate chip pound cake! Yum. We have some friends that we get together with on Monday nights when possible to watch 24 and they were coming to my house last night. So I thought I better serve them cake and ice cream since they had dessert for us last week. I wanted cake so bad decided to taste test it before they came; you know, so they wouldn’t get sick from something that had been in my freezer a few months! Warmed in the microwave a bit to melt the chocolate chips and it was just perfect. 😆 I wouldn’t want to serve it to guests without making sure it was ok, right? Just in case you wonder, you can freeze cakes for a while and they do really well; I should know because now I’ve tried it out! Maybe I should have left the freezer alone.
“I’m bad.”

Yum, yum! and how kind of you to share. Looking at it that way and you are not bad at all. Now that is a blessing indeed!

Gosh, that looks good! My granny freezes her cakes in the deep freeze, too. I’ve only tried it once with a b’day cake my mom made, and it came out de-licious!!

Oh my word, that looks so good! Eat a piece for me, please 🙂
P.S. Is that a Cake Mix doctor one? If so, how do you freeze it, saran wrap, foil, ziploc or some combination? Maybe I could bake a cake like that and freeze half and then I wouldn’t feel obligated to eat the whole thing!

Yum!!! I’ve frozen cakes before (unfrosted) and they were OK.

LOL! You aren’t bad, you’re just practical. I would totally let you taste test a chocolate cake before company comes over. But, only if you eat a piece for me 🙂

What a thoughtful host you are to make sure that cake was still yummy! 🙂

Looks just like my mom’s CC pound cake! I’m making this sometime soon for a food blog event. I don’t have freezer big enough to freeze much, so this won’t be frozen. I’ll just divy it up among classmates in my apartment complex.

I’ve never met a pound cake I didn’t like — I would have ‘tested’ it, too:) Loved your story about going to the wedding. What a great time you had! Sounds like a wonderful group of friends!

Oh Gail, you definitely made the right decision! To NOT test it and make sure it was okay for guests would have been simply thoughtless of you, don’t you think?

YUM! That sounds so good, and you were absolutely right to sacrifice for the good of your guests!

Yum, I can almost taste it myself. 🙂

I used to be so much better about keeping things in the freezer–now I am more likely to forget I put it in there! The cook should always taste test, by the way!
