A few weeks ago I realized that Don had a Lowe’s gift card in his billfold that he’d been carrying around for months! I think from something business related is how he acquired it but as soon as I found it about it, I started a “wish list”. So we went off to Lowe’s on Saturday for a big date as he called it….silly boy, Lowe’s isn’t a date! We used about half of the gift card and somehow he ended up getting more things out of it than I did…..I must remedy that the next time we go. Ooh and I just realized, he put the card back in his pocket; I might need it to get more “stuff”. 😉
We had some tools stolen from our back porch while we were gone spring break so that was part of what he got. Pruners, clippers, and a saw have all disappeared recently so he picked those out and got leather work gloves and something to prune hedges with. Which we might not even use anytime soon. Then he told me that all that stuff was for me, like I want to work in the yard! But he doesn’t like yard work either, we are both the same that way. But I did get one thing I’ve been wanting outside, an umbrella to go over our table and chairs. They didn’t have any that exactly bowled me over and I had a time trying to decide whether to go ahead and get it to be using it or wait until I could find something I was really excited about.
But this is what came home with us:

I hope we’ll enjoy using it. We had one before that got blown over in a bad storm so guess I’ll have to be careful about that but it might be kinda nice to have it for this pleasant time of the year so we can sit outside and read or eat.

So that was our Saturday in the “park” at Lowe’s!
Did you have a good weekend?
I’m off to help hubby with something this afternoon but I’ll try to get by and visit your blogs later tonight or tomorrow!

Wow, that must have been some gift card–I want one of those!!! Hubby is wanting one of those electric or gas (whichever) pruners so that he can take care of the shrubs easier. We had a good weekend. I will post about it when I get caught up. Hope you had a good afternoon.

not related to your post today but i just noticed that you’re reading “Phantom of the Opera.” have you ever read “Phantom,” by Susan Kay? it’s supposed to be the complete story of Erik’s life. i really enjoyed it.

Yeah, you finally got your umbrella! I’m so glad, I know you’ve been wanting one for a while. We’d like to get a new one, but I can’t find one small enough for our deck. Most all of them are 9′ or larger and we need a smaller one since our table is up next to the house.

Glad you guys got the tools replaced. Maybe you can get something fun with the rest of the gift card. We have a huge Lowe’s list too, and were going to go this weekend, but got busy doing other stuff. Ours is stuff for the flower beds and yard, nothing fun. We do like to work outside, and Tim of course, does all of the hard stuff like mowing, edging, tilling, pruning, etc. 🙂

I need a new umbrella for my patio set too! And also need new cutters, pruners, etc.

Guess what is on my list for my b-day? A gift card to Lowe’s! haha

Your hubby’s definition of a good date sounds just like my hubby’s. At this point, I don’t care what they label as a date, just a long as they’re around!! 🙂 We had a patio table and chairs and umbrella, until one night a huge storm came and blew the umbrella over, and the table went with it. The glass in the table broke, so we got rid of everything. I’m not sure what I want to replace it, but if you’re done with that Lowe’s card…..

“I think it was the Fourth of July!” My parents need to get an umbrella for their table. Our old house had a covered porch but the one in TN doesn’t. Maybe they should make a trip to Lowe’s.

Oh Gail…we bought an umbrella table a few years ago because it was something I always wanted to have as a grownup married woman! LOL Your new umbrella is beautiful!

I love that umbrella! That must have been one whopper of a gift card!
I’d call a trip to Lowes a date, too…as long as the kids weren’t in tow.

I LOVE Lowe’s could spend hours in there.

    Love the umbrella too 🙂

Yes, I would love that recipe for the dry mix. This whole msg problem has been such a hassle when it comes to cooking! How cool that you’ve seen Amy Grant. When B. and I were in college, we once camped out all night just to get front row tickets to her concert with Michael W. Smith! We got ’em too. It was great. Thanks for your congratulations regarding the children and JBQ.

I’m so with ya on the yard work stuff. I love the look of a beautiful backyard but I hate to do all the work.
