We had Strawberry Trifle for dessert this past Easter Sunday! It got gobbled up pretty quick by the crew that was here with just a bit for leftover that night. I’m sure all of you have made something like this before; it’s nothing new and certainly not very gourmet but I did use something just a bit different. If you had come to my house for dinner you might have gotten some of this for dessert
Click below for the ingredients
Strawberry Trifle
1 large instant vanilla pudding mix
1 large Cool Whip
2-3 packages frozen strawberries
1 box of Twinkies (this is what made it a bit different for me)
Mix pudding according to directions on package. Cut up Twinkies into pieces and put half in bottom of trifle bowl. Then add strawberries, half of the pudding and some cool whip. Repeat layers again.
Enjoy!
The original recipe I had for this called for it to be made in a 9 x 13 pan and when I made it like that I cut the Twinkies in half lengthwise and then made it the same way with the layers. I decided to try it in a trifle bowl this time because I thought it would look prettier that way! You could also make this with angel food cake, pound cake or just a yellow butter cake mix. Twinkies were a favorite of mine growing up so that’s why I like to use them! Plus it makes it really easy. I had 2 containers of strawberries that were 16 oz. each and I didn’t use quite all of those, just enough in each layer to cover the cake.
We’ve made this for parties also using angel food cake and it is usually one of the first things to go!

Yummy! Great picture too, it looks delicious! I’ve had it with the Twinkies in the 9×13 pan. You gave me that recipe a few summers ago and we loved it. It just makes a lot for the two of us. But, it’s great for a group and I’m not surprised that crew you had at your house ate it all up, hehehe!

Oh, this sounds wonderful–I’m going to make it for my next life group! Thanks for sharing! Are these pre-sweetened strawberries–or do you just not need sugar?

Well, for heaven’s sake, that dessert is gorgeous, Gail. And Twinkies? Diet dessert – my favorite kind! This sounds so easy and look at how pretty is. And I have that same trifle dish. Martha Stewart collection at K-Mart, right? I love mine.

Concerning you not being organized–I am guessing that you are much more organized than you would have us believe. You have posted pictures of your home and everything seems to be in it’s place!! So, don’t count on me coming over to clean up–I can see that it is already fine. I will be near your neck of the woods this weekend for Bible Quiz!
