For kids that would be, exam time! The BSU at the college my kids have attended offers exam survival kits to be delivered to your student right before exams begin. The money they raise goes to their summer missions projects & we’ve always done this to support them but…… YIKES, we missed the deadline for sending our order/money in this year! We have child #4 in school this year. We decided to do our own little care package for him this semester, hoping he might like something homemade. One year we did the same thing for 2 of our others; on the spur of the moment DH asked if I wanted to drive to school to see them and take them some treats. So we made the trip to see our kids and even though we didn’t get to visit with them long, I think they really enjoyed the surprise!
I went and got him a few things from the store that I know he’ll eat,
then dipped some big pretzel sticks in chocolate and put sprinkles on them—they are actually pretty good!
And I know he loves chess squares so I made a pan of those and put them in a tin:
Everything has been put into a big box and is ready to go; DH will be close by to where he is and will deliver it to him. I hope he likes it and makes it through exam time!

“with the kids jingle belling and everyone telling you ‘Be of good cheer.'” I remember those boxes. the first year they weren’t that great but got better towards the last couple of years I was there. THIS box, however, looks like the best. I think the pretzels looks delicious and want one right now…oh, well. I’ve already brushed my teeth anyway! 🙂

Glad you got to see your family. I’m sure it was a great surprise. How long does Elizabeth get off for Christmas? We only get 2 weeks and have to start back to class on Jan 2. Ick!

Yummy, those pretzel sticks look good! Good thing you practiced, you can have more ready by Christmas, hahaha! I know he’ll be glad to get all the goodies. Did he get his box today (via golf lesson) or later in the week? Tell him we said Hello and to holler at us if he needs anything during exam week.
In case you don’t already know it, you’re a really good mom 🙂

Claire, I think after buying these from the BSU all this time I’ve never actually found out what they put in them! Elizabeth gets off more than 2 weeks I think BUT, she won’t be here that long…she’ll stay in AL for a bit to finish some stuff there and then go to Jxn to see Chris! Not sure how long we’ll see her.
Aw, thanks Stacy!

I think I may be doing the same thing as Elizabeth. I’m not going to TN until Christmas Eve. There is a girl in Clinton getting married on the 23rd, so I’m staying for that. Then I’ll probably only stay in TN a week or so. My brother is riding with me and I KNOW he’ll be itching to get back to Clinton so he can make some money working with a locksmith friend.

We always bought those exam packages for our girls too but they couldn’t possibly have been as nice as this. Oh yeah, he’ll like it. 🙂

What a great idea! Believe it or not, the college I attended held finals AFTER the holidays! What a pain but it was most likely a ploy to get us there for a 2nd semester (struggling Bible college). Anyways I remember care packages and what a lift they were. He’s a lucky boy!
