It rained more here yesterday than it has in quite some time and of course that was the day I decided I needed to do my grocery shopping! I should have known better. When I finally got ready to go, it was after lunch and I hate waiting til afternoon to go because the check out lines are always worse. But I did check to make sure I had an umbrella in the car, in fact I had two; but neither of them worked right! One I couldn’t get open at all and the other one I could get open part way but had to hold it so it wouldn’t close back up on me. I made it into the store without getting too wet and thought I better get another umbrella while I was thinking about it. I got two! Thought it wouldn’t hurt to have more than one because they don’t seem to last me too long. Of course there were only 3 lanes open in Walmart when I was ready to check out and 2 of those were express and I had way more than 20 items. So I had to wait in the really long one for a bit until they finally opened another one when the line was backing up into the shopping area. Got to the door and opened up a new umbrella to slosh my way through the parking lot with a shopping cart full of bags and my umbrella immediately does………….
this lovely number:
Only I was trying to hold it over my head and the cart at the same time (that’s not me in the pic!) I obviously don’t know how to buy an umbrella, unless they all do this trick when it gets really windy out. We did have a lot of wind yesterday. But while surfing for a photo, I ran across several things that said “wind proof ” and “wind resistant” umbrellas! So do they actually make umbrellas that won’t turn inside out on you in the rain? Does anybody have one and do they work? Maybe I’ll have to invest a little more money and get something that might last me longer than a few months. I love having the smaller ones that fold up but I guess if the bigger ones work better, maybe that’s the way to go. Let me know what you have that works!
Do rainy days and Mondays get you down?!!

Ahhh…you gave it away at the end of the post! I knew this one too. Love the Carpenters! Maybe later you’ll be On top of the world! I was afraid that my umbrella was going to flip several times yesterday, as well. Let’s just say it was so wet that when I went to put on my shoes today, they were still wet…I had to wear shoes that give me blisters! You might try a totes umbrella. They have lifetime guarantees. The one I have even has a button that opens AND closes the umbrella.

Oh, top of the world, good one Claire! I’ll have to remember it!
Will have to check totes out too…a button that opens AND closes would be nice. One of my old ones has a broken button on it (:

Yesterday just was not your day. Sounds like the same type of weather in my area. I was lucky, though and got to stay home all day. Your blog is so pretty and cheery. Reminescent of spring – ahhhhhh…

Hi gail,
Came to you through “Living to Tell the Story”. I commented on her site about “End of the Spear” and thought you might want to read them because they refer to the other one you want to watch too! 🙂

I have mostly Totes umbrellas too, and they seem to do pretty well, but I’m sure they’ve flipped many times before. Although, to be fair, I try not to get out too much when the weather is bad and it’s really rainy. I stayed out of the weather on Monday, sorry you had to get out and slosh around. I like staying home on rainy, grey days.
Tim has a big golf umbrella, and I don’t ever remember it flipping inside out. It’s big and bulky though, so I never mess with it. If there’s a wind resistant umbrella out there, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one 🙂

Hope you’re able to stay out of the cold rainy weather 🙂

We tend to have enough umbrellas, but like your two, they are always broken. Of course we never find this out until it rains.
