Last week I did a meme about movies, here. So the story that goes with it will probably only mean something to my kids & they won’t see this but here it is!
When all 4 kids started getting older, with longer legs, we switched from a minivan to a full size van…..big with an extended top so D could practically stand up in it, a seat on the back that folded down to a bed, long center aisle so D could lay down, and it had a tv/vcr in it so the kids could watch movies while we travelled. Are you getting a picture here that I did most of the driving!
The first week we had the van we went on like a 6000+ mile trip and that vcr really came in handy, as did all the space and the bed. We took movies and I’m sure we must have had Beauty & the Beast. We took that movie with us on almost every trip we went on….to out of town basketball games, vacations, trips to Jackson, etc. So the family joke about it is that I have never seen Beauty & the Beast! I knew almost every word by heart, all the songs, and what the story is about but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that tape! I was probably driving almost every time they brought that movie out over the years to watch. At times I think they would wait until I was driving and then they put that movie in to watch. All four thought it was so funny that they had seen it probably hundreds of times but I hadn’t seen it once. If they put it in at home, it would be while I was asleep or cooking or something where I couldn’t drop what I was doing and go see it. A couple of years ago when we went to New York for the 2nd time, one of the plays we went to was Beauty & the Beast………it was wonderful! I have still probably only seen parts of the animated version that we have on tape but I don’t think I ever once saw that movie on the tv in the van!
Before we finally sold the van, I found out that they all called my car the blue box! I wonder if they meant that in a derogatory way! 🙂

Great story! You do WAY too much driving, always have. Those kids are too funny, I bet they would wait till you couldn’t watch it to pop it in 🙂
Oh, and surprise surprise, I’ve never seen Beauty and the Beast either! Part of that missed childhood syndrome, haha.

When/if we have kids that will be me. I do all the driving unless I beg. Patt will drive if I have a headache but that’s about it.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen the movie all the way through. Bits and Pieces with my niece maybe, but not all of it.

Glad to know I’m not the only one that hasn’t seen the movie!
